Anyone remember him on that Baddiel & Skinner footy programme a few years back?
He came out with one or two soundbites but when it came to proper analysis he fell way short.
I love the bloke but I fear it will be the same on Question Time.

The line that always sticks in my head is when an interviewer asked him if it was true he urinated on one of his teacher's graves after he died and he said yes. When asked "Don't you think that was a little childish?", he replied along the lines of "No. He was a right c unt. You'd have done the same too if he was your teacher".

Goodness, that was amusing of him.

Agree. Whenever he is interviewed he always comes out with some crass idealogical comment but he falls apart when it is questioned.

I'm really enjoying the new PIL album. I think tonight will ruin it for me.

He's not at all like he used to be, he's mellowed quite a lot over the years, maybe an appearance on QT will bring him out again. They made a TV show with him here in Belgium where a journalist went around England with him to find out about 'Englishness' (in 6 parts) and he was only slightly "anti".

So am I great album. This could be epic or cringworthy.

Although the butter adverts were pretty bad, I believe all the monies went to putting together a band, record label and tours, so not a bad few days swollowing ones pride TBH.

Lydon just a silly little shoutey man who has no great talent or musical ability, lets be honest the Sex Pistols were dire as musicians, a few decent punk songs and they milked it for all they were worth and his butter adds , how could anyone take him seriously when he has competely sold out and played the capitalist system as hard as he could ? I reckon he will be well and truely found out.

I cant go along with that...sorry.

Apart from the pistols where I take your point. PIL where very influential and in their time very ground breaking , go back and listen to songs like , Poptones and death disco, these were up there with the best IMHO.

About the selling out…as far as I am aware did he ever say he did not want to make money? And to make money or your terms is a good thing is it not?

I mean the pistols were just clothes horses for Vivian westward?? And a money making cash (for chaos) cow for Malcolm McLaren.

But that’s in hindsight, as a 14 year old boy they were the dogs bollocks and gave the musical industry a good kick up the arse!!

The Stranglers kicked the Sex Pistols into the long grass. Much better songs, much much better musicians, much better live act, far more intelligent, Cornwell and Burnel have degrees and much more attitude and attitude because they earned it. Burnel on Question Time would be much better.

Agreed about The Stranglers, still going strong, but would love Cornwell back!
The Pistols broke down the doors for punk bands, and lots of bands followed them through the door and made a career, that maybe wouldn't have happened otherwise. The Pistols was never put together to last the test of time ,but what a cracking debut album !!!
