Deservedly so is the witch hunt over him.
This piece of scum should have been thrown out of football many moons ago.
Shame as he is a very good player but he is obviously not 'all there'.

Look at his record, including wounding teenagers on at least two separate occasions, and name 'plenty worse'.

Ian Huntley, Joseph Fritzl, Ed Geines, Fred West, Myra Hindley, Peter Sutcliffe, Jon Venables, Robert Thompson, John Christie, Steve Wright, Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, Gary Glitter...

To be honest, I don't see the players that have been kicking other players about all season getting punished like he has, such as Karl Henry and Nigel De Jong

Can I just say that Pedersen's reaction is embarrassing too? He's a grown man, yep, Barton punched him, but in the ribs, and without anything like the force needed to send him to the ground.

Imagine a bloke gets a light punch like that in a street punch up, no way in a million years would he go to ground and look hurt like that, he'd be laughed out of town.

Barton is out of order, a simple 3 match ban is perfectly adequate, but Pedersen illustrates exactly why footballers do my head in much of the time. Pathetic: man up!

How many times have you been winded in that area edna? I have and I can tell you it bloody hurts and you do go down like a sack of shit! the immediate reaction is to curl up in a ball just like Pedersen did so as far as i'm concerned thats just a natural reaction. Even the lightest of punches can wind you like that

I presumed we were talking about footballers. I can't think of any with a worse record, not even Bowyer.

If he wasn't a footballer he'd be banged up with his scumbag brother by now. He's a nasty, violent little ratboy thug who is fortunate enough to be able to kick a ball better than he can kick peoples heads. He knows what side his bread is buttered, so he suppresses his violent urges most of the time to stay on his lavish payroll, but every now and then it resurfaces and you see the real Barton.

Make no mistake, if it wasn't for the fact that he is a stinking rich footballer in the fortunate position of having his arse wiped by NUFC, he'd be on the streets kicking the shit out of people and robbing them blind.

This.

I guess what is "worse" can be up for debate.

Luke McCormick (drink driving, responsible or the deaths of two children)
Jody Morris (Drink driving, charged with rape - cps decided not to proceed)
Duncan Ferguson (four convictions for assault)
Marlon King (Headbutting teammate - dealt with 'in-house', convicted for 14 offences including theft, criminal damage, assault involving young women)
Dennis Wise (convicted of assault, accused of biting another player, broken jaw of a teammate who was tying to stop a fight)
Joe Mattock charged with assaulting four people, including two women)
Andy Caroll (Accepted a police caution for assaulting a woman, charged with assault after smashing a glass in someone's face, arrested after breaking teammate's jaw, charged with assaulting his ex-girlfriend)
Calum Davenport (Charged with ABH on his own sister)

The guy is a grade A prick. Just watched it on youtube. His protestation after that it was an open slap should have doubled his punishment.

What's the point in having Linesmen and 4th officials if they don't spot this stuff?

A slight correction there if I can be momentarily pedantic: Carroll was never arrested for breaking Steven Taylor's jaw because Newcastle United covered it up and put pressure on Taylor not to make an official complaint to police.

By all accounts (I have a friend who's a copper up that way) they are both a pair of utter twunts in any case, but Chris Hughton sized up pretty quickly after their fight that Carroll was crucial to Newcastle's promotion hopes, whereas Taylor was only a defender and was out all season injured anyway, so they managed to hush it up to a certain extent, to ensure that Carroll was free to continue playing at a key stage in the season.

The softly softly approach certainly seems to have taught Carroll a lesson doesn't it....oh

I'd have Barton in our team.

How old are you.

In the 70s there were punch-ups all the time, like this CLASSIC

[yt]V8kxMnc5KUs[/yt]

Yep,there were punch ups then, and there have been since, even between players on the same team. But they were facing up to each other, not getting a crafty punch in the gut thrown by somebody too cowardly to face it up.

Good to see him banned.Hope Pederson rubs it in by taking him to dinner.

There is no "witch hunt". It sounds so stupid when people say "oh they're only reacting this way because it's Barton." Well...yes, because he's done it dozens of times before.

And Edna, I've watched the punch a lot of times and it looks well painful, seeing it from behind Pedersons body shakes from the force of the punch. Nasty.

Correct. The problems with using Wickipedia. Oddly it had a citation, so I just checked it and the reference that confirms that information actually contains a quote from the police confirming there was nothing reported to them.
