People go into moaning overdrive on here when we DRAW A GAME. It's f***ing unbelievable on here sometimes. Embarrassing.

It certainly is embarrassing, this is the first time we have been competitive in this division for 21 years and we have a decent chance of grabbing a playoff place for promotion to the premierleague yet people still feel the need to moan and have a pop at our players, it really is unbelievable.

Not a dig a Painter, just an observation. Mattock is the better player because he can play high up the pitch as Gus requires, but can also get back quickly, whereas Painter gets caught out for pace to easily if he loses possession or has to track back when the opposition has the ball.

Taking nothing away from Painters achievements for the club, but we have moved on considerably since he last played.

Painter took some right stick on here earlier in the season. I have always rated him, albeit he is a bit slow. He is 100% committed and puts in a shift every time he pulls on the shirt. However, I do think Mattock has done a sound job, and is much more experienced in this division.

I've not been convinced by Mattock as yet, hopefully some competition with Painter will raise both players performance levels.

Not a moan at painter but at the start of the season right up to when he got injured people were moaning saying we need a new left back because this league is good for him (I was one of them) yet now hes starting to get fit people think he has a chance at starting at left back?

Sorry but I agree with the OP in a way Mattock deserves to keep his place hes a much better player and has done very well since he joined us and has proved we needed someone at leftback all along, so fingers cross hes our 1st choice left back next season.

This. Yes, Mattock has looked ok but a fit Painter gives us competition and good depth in the squad.

I can see the point raised by the OP although could have been phrased more subtely. Painter (and Calderon for that matter) were both nailed on to start in League 1 but were getting skinned a bit too often earlier this season. Competition from the loanees is good and has helped steady the ship.

I think that Gus's comments were intended to spice up the competition for places and emphasising the fact that there is room Mattock to improve his game. I do agree that painter lacks speed and Mattock looks more comfortable on the ball and going forward. I personally feel far more comfortable with Mattock playing.

Mate at work is a big swans fan told me that MP was really good for them in Div 1 but struggled in championship lack of pace ect did really well last season but has still alot to prove at this level , as does mattock but he is still a young lad.

At the beginning of the season, even when we were winning so many games, everytime the opposition ran down the right wing, I was always nervous that Painter would be out done/run. A good player but not good enough for a top 6 Championship side.

Why people choose to slag off our players especially during our best season in a generation, I really fear when we hit a rough patch as some of the goons on here are going to go in to moaning overdrive.
