One of the few people booing was sat a couple of rows behind me in D block (must have been row E or F). He normally vents his abuse on Mayo (who had a reasonable game) or Hammond (who went off injured), so this time tunred on Gatting.

He then moaned about Santos getting offside, what did he expect when you throw a centre back on as centre forward? Gatting only started because Hart, Revell, Williams & Molango are all out injured.

If we had players that are 16 and world beaters or just brilliant footballers the chances are they will not be playing for the Albion. What do people expect?

I hate all seater stadoiums because you can stuck near to some complete w*****s and sadly D block has some of the best moaners in the country. All I can say is that if I was a player I would say how sh!t our home support is compared to the loyal away fans that get behind the team.

WITHDEAN MOANERS OUT!

Then enlighten me, what is the position he normally plays? I thought he played up front with Jake in the youths until Jake started getting into the 1st team squad. So how different was the role he had on Saturday, from the role he had with the youth team?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love him to succeed, I want him to be a player, but from what I've seen .....

He's not a target man and although he may be taller than Jake its not his game. Whilst we try and pull away from the basement we are lumbered with hoofball and he's the sort of player (like Jake) who needs balls to feet. If he's not up to scratch I would sooner have him than a lot of the clowns I've watched over the last thirty or so years.

So he needs the ball into feet, and then we will see a better player. If we had a big target man, you'd fancy him to make good use of the knock-downs. Ok, I'll look out for that, but I must say my hopes are not high, as Saturday really was very poor, and as a centre forward, even if you are not going to win many headers from long balls, there is no excuse for not making a nuisance of yourself, and he seemed to be giving them a rather easy ride.

Frustrating to watch a young lad like that struggle so badly, and its what he typifies (under investment) rather than him personally that annoys fans. However, the fact he was out of his depth aside, he won't get many chances to impress yet seemed to let this one slide. He didn't look capable of discharging the target man role, and struggled with his responsibilities, the makeshift Santos was instantly involved on his introduction and just put himself about a bit, more than Joe did in his time out there. Gattings timing for headers was poor and he looked well off the pace, so much so it came across as disinterest (obviously that's not the case but that's how far out of the game he was). Cumilatively through the game he ended up getting stick because of that. People are right that criticising youngsters doesn't help, however maybe, just maybe, it's possible that he isn't good enough or ever going to be.

To be fair I don't imagine many League One clubs have quality fourth string strikers.

Was Molango injured or is he just out of the picture?
