The famous game when we spanked Charlton 7-0 and JC got a hat-trick. Now that was a bloody good day out, and one of those ones that you really felt we might make double figures.

5-0 up at half time, and apart from the hat-trick, Gerry Ryan, Gordon Smith and Terry Connor also got on the scoresheet.

Having just past my 40th anniversary watching the Albion my memory is going down the drain fast, but this is one game that does stand out.
Bring on The Addicks this season :ascarf:

Terry Connor bowed to The West Stand as he left the pitch!

Rammed in the East Stand - that really was a great game. Favourite Jimmy Case goal was a pass from Gerry Ryan that dropped over his shoulder and Case hit it on the volley from the edge of the box into the goal in front of the south stand. Superb day. Shame it's not on video somewhere.

We didn't even play that well in the game but an old Charlton supporting friend said that it was possibly the best display of finishing he had ever seen. I couldn't argue with that at the time and I can't say I've seen better since.

I remember that day. Went to Bexley to visit Granny and Charlton-supporting Grandpa. We got there just as the half time scores were being read out on the telly box - marvellous. :lolol:

They did us 5-3 at home the following season though. :(

Charlton had had a good start and were unbeaten when they came to the Goldstone, so it wasn't a case of beating a poor side.

It was one of those days when just about everything worked.

Was there with my dad on the East Terrace. It was the third time I saw the Albion get 7, and haven't seen it since.

I remember some Charlton fans charged in through the gate on to the East Terrace and were just about to start causing trouble, but then just changed their minds and sloped off. Probably too demoralised.

I was stood in the West that day .... with my mum! It was a great day, and especially funny the first half when we seemed to just constantly knock it out to the left wing, go down the line, swing the cross over and we'd scored.

Marvellous Scenes.
