[News] Jimmy Carter **RIP 29/12/24**

He belonged to an evangelical church in Americus, GA after his time as president and the Sunday School class that he taught at the Southern Baptist church was so full of guest attendees they held it in the biggest space in the church. Jimmy Carter was a devouted Christian who lived a Christ-like life. I knew a couple that attended his Sunday School class and they said there were over 2,000 in the class in a town of about 15,000 residents. He was a strong draw. I wonder what Governor Jimmy Carter of Georgia would have said to Trump if he had asked Governor Carter to find about 11,000 votes.

I can't comment on his presidency as he left office when I was 11. But post presidency he always seemed to be out there trying to do good and get people to do the right thing.

His presidency was before my time, but his post-Presidential activities give the overwhelming impression of his being a thoroughly decent, humble human being who genuinely sought to make a positive impact on the world.
Politics could do with many more such people.

He does appear to have been a good man but 24 hour coverage of a 100 year old man dying is OTT especially considering other events happening like aircraft crashing etc.
His presidency was 'underwhelming' to say the least, but his post-presidential career was perhaps THE best of any former world leader. His Foundation, his philanthropy, his work with Nelson Mandela, that's just off the top of my head. Deservedly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Plus he lived a very modest lifestyle and largely eschewed the 'Cash for Speeches' circuit that so many others follow.
We thought him being replaced by Reagan was the worst thing that could have happened. Oh for those days now.
