The analysis of a simpleton. Well done.

More a realist but this will be the end result and hopeless little factories making loses as we try and get back to making things again.

Everyone bashes the services and banking industries but underestimates the massive value they bring to the economy

Interesting piece on the radio a minutes ago.

Labour politician saying the reasons Labour lost the last election is because they weren't trusted on the economy, immigration and foreign policy. "It's like we offered the electorate egg and chips. They didn't want it so now we are offering them double egg and chips..."

A few class warriors, hard-left activists and the benefit 'take everything, contribute nothing' underclass in Labour inner-city safe seats might be bang up for the Corbyn agenda; but I can't see it resonating with the crucial floating voters in a the few marginal seats Labour need to win back.

Burnham or Cooper would have been double egg and chips, not Corbyn.

Good point about manufacturing. The Tories for the last 30 years seem wedded to finance capital to the exclusion of any idea of productive industry. Corbyn may have a few surprises up his sleeve.

Two things the UK is crying out for is an apolitical independently run education system and a deep manufacturing base. As Corbyn said the UK is brilliant on design but not so good at making. We need manufacturing and all the benefits it brings to society and the economy.

I personally don't underestimate the massive value they bring. They're a very important part of the UK economy. But it's very London-centric and the UK is too reliant on it. Keep it as it is but to go with it you need a thriving manufacturing sector as well.

If Corbyn wants his way and prints billions of extra £s...we'll have raging inflation back into the 20 plus figures....yes,all those who says,me,me,me,give me more money...think about it,one man's pay rise is another man's price rise,he want's to tax the rich...yep,Socialist France tried that and got a massive exodus of brain and business power. He wants us to leave NATO leaving us defenceless by getting rid of our nuclear shield. He cosies up to terrorist,or anyone against the British or Western society. He thinks that we should live in a Russian utopia( noticed he got a congratulatory telegram from Argentina, with the idea that he would give them the Falklands...against the islanders wishes. The only thing I do agree with him on is the EU.
Less than half a million voted for him out of the whole population...hardly a mandate for PM.

Don't get me wrong...I'm delighted he won....it will leave Socialism dead in the voting ocean for years to come.

I'm all for growing manufacturing in the UK, but it won't happen as long as there are deluded union leaders prepared to destroy it again. #howlongbeforetheusualidiotsblamethatcher

Under Corbyn, first class travel concessions will be first against the wall :guns:

:moo:

I would expect more 1st class only trains going forward to ensure the champagne socialists don't mix with the riffraff

We need manufacturing and all the benefits it brings to society and the economy.

I would love the UK to have a strong manufacturing sector again, but with average pay in the UK being 5x that of China (plenty of evidence available for that stat if you want to query it), how can it be made to work? Surely, the products will either be too expensive to be sold in the global economy or the industry will have to be massively subsidised by central Government? What manufacturing industry we have left is typically high end, high price stuff where the punter is willing to pay the associated price. I just don't see how mass manufacturing can be economically sustainable in any (relatively) high wage economy any more.

Great result for Corbyn, lets see if he can extend this wave of support and optimism, looking forward to him announcing the new shadow cabinet.

He is already asking people to e-mail topics they would like discussed at prime ministers question time.

That doesn't even make sense. If Labour were just Tory-lite and not left-wing enough for the voters they would still have voted for Labour as the most left-wing party. Honestly, the Corbyn fanboys need a dose of reality. No-one ever says I want a left-wing government but Labour weren't left-wing enough so I'll vote for the Tories.

Gotta love Corbyn fanboy logic. Here's another example: Corbyn votes against his party - he's principled. Various shadow ministers resign for fundamental ideological reasons and that's just sour grapes!

I think Corbyn's first job is to convince the middle England (that he needs to win over) that socialism isn't a dirty word. Personally I get tired of reading about "socialist utopia" from the usual tory suspects, as if we're talking about Kim Jong Un's regime.

I've never been a socialist but am prepared to believe it could work. It has done in Scandinavia, for example. I just don't believe that an economy of near 60m people can be sustained entirely on service industry and the only people who seem truly committed to regenerating our manufacturing base are committed socialists.

I'm not saying I believe in it yet, but I do want to hear more.

Best move out of Reigate if you want to hear more chat about socialism working, Simster..................nether regions of Redhill or Croydon, maybe?

I've discussed this many times before. You don't compete with low-cost manufacturing bases, you make the things they need. Or, you make things they can't make. Take a look at the German manufacturing sector for example. Or the Finnish ship-building industry. Or ask why does Italy supply so many car parts to UK assembly lines. All western and with relatively high wage economies.

And the reason why the Nissan factories in the UK are so successful is.......?

I'm not disputing this. You're backing up my assertion that it can be done. I'm wanting more of the same, but with more parts made in the UK.

I agree with this but shame the inevitable German reference has to be played every time.
