Under ferocious questioning from BBC attack-dog Laura Kuenssberg, JC refuses to confirm we will be leaving the EU, not once but SEVEN TIMES ...

It would be better to say, yes we're leaving, then down the line not leave. i.e. We won't have an election before 2020, we won't have an election before 2020, we won't have an election before 2020, we're going to have an election next month.

A Thatcherite unhappy with a lurch to the right? I don't think May is any more right-wing than Hague and certainly nowhere near IDS or Howard. He's not alone in being a Tory whose party no longer represents him though. There's a lot of us about.

He's a bizarre man. We would have had long periods without talking had we not agreed some time ago not to stray into political discussions. I don't think he saw Thatcher as being right wing really, strange as that may sound.

Fair enough. I can't help but admire the way she took on and destroyed socialism despite me being what she would regard as sopping wet and despite my opinion that for Clause 28 alone she will live in infamy.

Keeping his options open regarding Brexit when pressed if it will definitely happen, could do worse in keeping the metro vote

Seriously some of the posts on here are ridiculous. No party leader will come out before an election campaign and say they will resign if they lose the election. It would be electoral suicide.

Of course he won't go, the project isn't finished yet is it? There are all those disloyal Blairites to be deselected which will take some time.

Opposition to the Tories isn't as important as purging the Party, it's a Long March you know...
