Bloom's model is not to sell every player at a profit because no club has ever done that and no club will ever do it either. You dont understand the model of sustainable football clubs. Even Ajax, making a £350m+ profit on players in the last five years, release a higher number of players for free than they sell.

Glad we gave it a couple more years but found his level. Fee might not be big but if some bonuses and future % then makes a lot of sense
Sell on percentage wouldn't have done us much good in the case of that one!
I don't expect many go for free (or very low cost) when they could have gone for a couple of million a couple of years earlier!

MOLUMBY MAKES WEST BROM MOVE
Midfielder Jayson Molumby is to join West Bromwich Albion on a permanent basis.
The Ireland international joined West Brom last summer and has played 30 games this season in the Championship. West Brom exercised an option to make the move permanent after he made 25 appearances.
Head coach Graham Potter said, “Jayson has had a good loan experience at West Brom this season and played games regularly, which is good for his development.
“This is a good move for him and on behalf of everyone at the club I wish him all the best for the next stage of his career.”
The 22-year-old made his first-team debut for Albion as a teenager in a League Cup tie in 2017 and his Premier League bow against Aston Villa in November 2020.
He spent part of last season on loan at Preston before moving to the Hawthorns.

I wish Jayson the best of luck with the rest of his career and I'll keep an eye on how he gets on.
Youngsters not quite making it and moving on for a small fee with possibly a sell on is going to be a feature of this summer and future transfer windows.

£900k looks like a good buy from West Brom's side of the deal, although I'm sure there'll be add-ons/sell-on clauses.

The guy is a Republic of Ireland international with 100-odd Championship games under his belt. I'd hope we'd get at least £1 mill for that. Our youth system can't run on fresh air.

It’s a strange one Isn’t it? If we were linked with a young player like that how much would we expect to have to pay a Championship team? 8 figures surely?
Anyway good luck to the kid. Doesn’t look like he has enough to be a top ten first teamer but you can imagine him having a very decent career.

Neither Brighton or any other team would pay 8 figures for a sparsely used player from a mid-tier Championship team.
Don't know about eight figure sums, but seven figure sums, certainly. We've paid more than £900K for some of our U23s/current loanees!

Probably the right decision for him. If he's going to make it as a Championship or higher player then right now he needs game time, which we cant offer. As a club we also need to show that there is a path to some kind of first team football if players join us when very young like JM did.

The reported fee was £900 000, and I assume there was a loan fee as well, so somewhere around £1million for an academy player. Given that Veltman cost £900k and iirc Lamptey was a similar amount ( the reported £3million was wrong apparently) then I think its a good deal for a player who has seemingly found his level.

The difference is if we were looking to buy a player from a championship club it'd be because we thought he would improve us as a premier league club. What we're doing is selling a player because we don't think he will improve us as a premier league club. So the fees will necessarily be different and I'm sure there'll be extra performance fees and/or a sell on in case he becomes a player capable of playing in the prem.
It's a shame he didn't kick on, he was a player I was really looking forward to seeing develop.
