According to sources from Northampton Jason Crowe has been offered terms by Brighton ?. Quality player, right back or winger, hope this doesn't mean Whing is on his way, hopefully he will be used as a winger mainly ?

Meanwhile, Jason Crowe has been offered a contract by Brighton & Hove Albion.

The defender is understood to be unlikely to come back to Sixfields and sign the deal put forward by the Cobblers at the end of last season.

Millwall and Norwich City have both been linked with Crowe, but Brighton are the only club to so far make a concrete offer.

Gray targets pace for Cobblers signings

« Previous « PreviousNext » Next »View GalleryPublished Date: 01 June 2009
Stuart Gray will turn his attention to signing some pacy players after completing the Northampon Town transfers of two experienced professionals in the past week.
Gray has brought Steve Guinan and Craig Hinton to Sixfields already this summer, a duo who between them have played more than 700 games.

It addresses the issue of a lack of knowledge of the level at which Town will be playing next season, as both
ADVERTISEMENTmen have been promoted from Coca-Cola League Two during their careers.

Now Gray will switch emphasis, to a series of targets who he hopes will add a dimension of quickness to next season's squad.

"Craig will bring us leadership qualities and he always gives 100 per cent," he said. "That's the type of player we will need at this football club next season.

"That's probably it on the experience side of things for now. We probably lacked a little bit of leadership at times last season and with these signings we will have that.

"Ideally you want all your pieces in place as early as possible. We've got two pieces in place but there are others I need to work on.

"We do need a bit of pace in the team and some young legs, but we've got a good balance at the moment."

A player who might bring some speed to the squad, and somebody who is well known to both the staff and supporters at Sixfields is Ikechi Anya.

The flying forward enjoyed a good finish to the season, although his contribution was not great enough to prevent the team from being relegated.

Buying Anya would prove difficult, as the transfer budget for Gray this summer is zero, but the manager has hinted he may still explore the deal with the implication being that the Glenn Hoddle Academy – who hold the player's registration – could be offered a deal based on future incentives.

"We haven't really got the money to go out and buy players, but with somebody like Kech we could probably structure a deal," he said.

"It might be that we give incentives to the academy, but we're not a buying club at the moment.

"But they're the cards I've been dealt and I've just got to get on with it."

"He started his career as a trainee at Arsenal. He made his debut as substitute in a League Cup tie against Birmingham City on October 14 1997 but was sent off after just 33 seconds by referee Uriah Rennie for a foul on Martin O'Connor; it was the fastest debut sending-off in English football history."

We are offering concrete in exchange for a player?!?! Don't we need that for the stadium?

Would be a great signing, much better player than whing, he would be first choice with whing as back up. Dont personally subscride to whingsteria think he is too slow for a full back. Crowe has pace and scored 8 goals last year not bad for a full back, and at 31 has experience which is exactly what we need at the back.

Always liked Crowe as a player, but would've preferred to sign him a few years back as his best days are probably behind him.
