does everyone think he will sign for us and im going to wait and see if he does i think he will but u never know

Being offered a contract at a better club, with the knowledge of a new stadium and a rich chairman - when your current club have just been relegated. I expect he'll be jumping at the chance to sign!

However......

Always liked Crowe as a player, but would've preferred to sign him a few years back as his best days are probably behind him.

I agree, 3 or 5 years back and i'd be dancing around.

Albion have made an undisclosed offer for Northampton defender Jason Crowe.

The 30-year-old is out of contract but has been offered a new deal by the Cobblers following relegation to League Two.

The versatile Crowe is best known as a right-back but he can also play in midfield.

He started his career at Arsenal where he made three first-team appearances but none in the League. He was sent off after 33 seconds of his debut after coming on as a substitute in a League Cup tie against Birmingham City.

After a loan spell at Crystal Palace he joined Portsmouth in July 1999 for £1million and went on to play 86 League games, scoring five times, helping them to promotion to the Premiership.

Another loan spell followed at Brentford before joining Grimsby in 2003, going on to play 69 League games before joining Northampton in 2005.

In 171 League appearances for the Cobblers, Crowe has scored 14 goals including an impressive eight in all competitions last season as they were relegated. He is also a former England under-20 international.

He's out of contract, so we won't have 'made an offer for him'. We have offered HIM a deal.

Blimey an actual proper offer much better than all the rumours on here about this and that striker. Role on the transfer season and the rebuilding of our squad.

dont matter
Be interested to see how long a contract he gets, IF he signs, as he'd do a decent enough job in L1 but cant see him being good enough for the Championship

If Crowe signs it will be to bolster the midfield playing in front of Whingy. Dont know if he'll be any good as he played for Grimsby before signing for the Cobblers.

Sounds like a good potential signing, but I really want Whingy to sign too... we need players with his commitment and defensive ability...

Jason Crowe in talks at Brighton

« Previous « PreviousNext » Next »View GalleryPublished Date: 02 June 2009
Northampton Town defender Jason Crowe has held talks with Brighton over a possible move to the south coast club.
The 30-year-old defender visited Brighton to hold talks with boss Russell Slade following Cobblers' relegation to League Two.

Crowe is out of contract, and Slade said: "Jason is very versatile. I know all about him. We are looking at targets and Jason is on that list.

"I'm talking to players. I've had a chat with probably six or seven players in different positions."

Cobblers have offered Crowe a new deal but he is expected to move on.

He said: "I'm a free agent and I've been to Brighton to see Russell. That's all I'm saying at this stage."

Millwall and Norwich are also thought to be interested in Crowe.

Albion are reported to be the only club to have put forward a firm offer though neither Slade nor the player would comment on whether terms had been discussed.

Whing should be given a deadline day for signing imo, and in the not too distant future too. He ain't that good that we should let him hold out and decide last minute, causing the club to have to make last minute signings should he decide not to sign.

Just sign or go to Walsall or wherever Whingy

I think he is a great player at our level, but agree that we should impose a deadline... it is not unreasonable to expect a response to a job offer within a week or 2 at most, IMHO...

Out-of-contract Northampton defender Jason Crowe could be on the verge of a move to Brighton after holding talks with boss Russell Slade.

The Cobblers have offered the 30-year-old a new deal but Crowe is expected to leave Sixfields this summer, with Millwall and Norwich also thought to be interested in securing his signature.

He told the Northampton Chronicle: "I'm a free agent and I've been to Brighton to see Russell. That's all I'm saying at this stage.

Slade added: "Jason is very versatile. I know all about him. We are looking at targets and Jason is on that list.
