"Long was the DJ who gave singer Amy Winehouse her first radio session and also championed the band Primal Scream.

Other artists to have been given early breaks by the broadcaster include the Smiths and Frankie Goes to Hollywood
."

Music without those acts. **shudder**

RIP

Now that is a shocker. She was always on Radio 1 in he afternoons when I got back from school and played Frankie Goes to Hollywood's Relax at that time before someone belatedly decided it was rude. RIP

Speaking about David Cassidy:

Janice Long: "I had him on my bedroom wall when I was a teenager."

John Peel: "I never knew that you were so athletic, Janice."

Very nearly won a St Bernard Dog and a year's supply of brandy in the first episode of 3-2-1. RIP.

I always remember her being in on TTOP when simply red did Holding back the years and her saying “ pure soul” and I thought at the time, coming from her, that is some highlight.

I absolutely loved her. It was so sad when Cheggers died and she was interviewed a few months later and she was still devastated about it.

Such a sad loss.

RIP a lovely lady.

RIP Janice

One of the voices of TV and radio from my youth, first woman on all the Beebs channels pretty much, well justified, a good DJ.

The fact John Peel was a fan tells you everything you need to know.

CHeggers sisters is news to me as well. Well kept secret
