RIP Janice

One of the voices of TV and radio from my youth, first woman on all the Beebs channels pretty much, well justified, a good DJ.

The fact John Peel was a fan tells you everything you need to know.

CHeggers sisters is news to me as well. Well kept secret

Annie Nightingale? Just checked you are right, Annie was only on Radio 1

Shocked at this passing though RIP

Hands up, I confused the two, both broke through glass ceilings on their way. WHen you look back at the culture in the 70's/80's at the top level they both excelled.

Her on air banter with Steve Wright was the stuff of legend.

Wrighty once said she was taking tablets to make her look like a film star…………….Ernest Borgnine.

RIP. Another part of our youth gone. 😞

Do I remember correctly that Janice Long and Peter Powell were an item for some time, eighties possibly?

Not Janice. He was married to the hideous Anthea Turner for a while. Not aware of them having their wedding sponsored by a chocolate bar company like Turners second time around wedding to the ponzi scheme guy who's name escapes me.

I always remember her being in on TTOP when simply red did Holding back the years and her saying “ pure soul” and I thought at the time, coming from her, that is some highlight.

I absolutely loved her. It was so sad when Cheggers died and she was interviewed a few months later and she was still devastated about it.

Such a sad loss.

RIP a lovely lady.

That episode was on BBC4 just a few days ago coincidentally, as I noted her choice of words too.

R.I.P. Janice. One of the Radio 1 DJs of my youth. A trailblazer.

The second husband was dumped a while ago. She now spends a lot of time on twitter criticising masks and lockdowns and retweeting GB News.
