Shame they're SHITE in the Prem and are basically living of the Chumps League.

The sooner they finish outside the top 4 the better for English football.

amen to that !!

3rd semi-final in 4 years. Somehow I don't think they give a toss what you think of them.

Oh dont they,I thought they would.

exactly, I bet if you ask any 'proper' Liverpool fan they would say they are not happy just trying to finish 4th in the league every year !!!

I'm not sure why everything is having a pop at the Scousers.

Quite obviously a system is there where you can finish 4th and win the champions league.

That's isn't a problem with Liverpool

Way out west
...as opposed to the plastics that you see wandering around most town centres these days...most of whom couldn't even tell you where the word scouse comes from, let alone point out Liverpool on a map of the UK.

I'm quite used to their "proper" fans, being married to a scouser and her relatives being season ticket holders.

Of course Liverpool fans would love to win the league, but they're not too unhappy about their successes in Europe either.

They have a fanstastic European record even if they sneaked in probably unfairly a few years ago (that's cheeky scousers for you..)

If you re-read the post, what I was saying is isn't Liverpools fault that a system is there that allows you to finish 4th and win the Champions League.

I'm not a half Liverpool fan either by the way...:D, I'm ALWAYS reminding them about 1983/4

You can't deny that city's love of football though.

I would have liked Arsenal to go through just because Walcott's run was so good

is it bollocks

What's a better club cup competition than the Champions League then??

???

I taped the game and watched it again afterwards as I wasn't concentrating on it being on here after the Brighton result, best game of 2008 so far in my opinon and with a Liverpool v Chelsea and potentially Man Utd v Barcelona semi the games could get better!

As a semi-Liverpool fan I'm quite happy with the result, bit I could not have argued if that run had won the tie - reminded me a little of the Ryan Giggs run the the FA Cup semi all those years ago against the Arse.

Regarding the big 4 issue, personally I can see that widening soon. Everton are not too far off, plus you have City hovering about to spend big, then you have teams like Villa & Blackburn who could get there with slightly bigger/better/deeper squads - they're not too far off.

I know what you mean. After that happened at Anfield went SILENT I was hoping they could hang on but you just knew that Liverpool was get something out of the game.

You've got to feel a bit sorry for them with the penalty decisions. I hadn't seen the Hleb one from the first game, how exactly was that not given?

I cant stand the scouse wankers, they've gotta be the most boring fans in the country.

The atmosphere in big CL games at Liverpool is like no other in England, only Celtic, in Britain, match it. I do not know how you can say this, Arsenal and Chelsea have no atmosphere and Utd is not much better. There is barely any singing at these grounds at all. For that alone I think Liverpool fans should not be classed as boring. Thieving Scousers yes, boring no.

Still fantastic game. The best side lost. Stevie Wenger and Arsenal must be gutted this morning, definite pen at the Emirates cost them.

And its a system that richly rewards total mediocrity.
In my opinion, Liverpool would have won a Premiership by now were it not for the fact that you can "settle" for 4th and keep the good times rolling. They are no longer a club that strives to be the best - why bother, when 2nd, 3rd or 4th will do ?

I don't think last nights pen was overly harsh, you do see those given many times. Arsenal should have got the one in the first game though. But they had their chances to win it, Adebeyor should have rounded Reina to score.
