American kids actually do not even understand what vegetables are and are living off processed food.

give them a gun and they would know how to shoot it though
watched the first one and felt sorry for the poor sod and personally I don't care that the American kids eat shite ....................its the British ones that worry me

As more and more of our TV comes from the US, anything that happens there will be influencing the kids here - so there is a direct correlation.

I know its really annoying, in defence of the programme is was made for US tv and it wasn't re-edited for Channel 4, as they thought it would be of more interest to see it how it was shown in the States.

If it was made for the UK audience it would be slightly less in your face

As some of you have already pointed out he can be a bit annoying at times and his commercial relationship with a massive supermarket chain means that there is often a conflict of interest to say the least.
I have to say that his campaign over school meals in this country was very sincere and he did manage to get things improved, even if it's not perfect. I certainly think that he is a thorn in the side of the garbage food industry and hope he continues to be so.
His demonstration about what goes into those nugget things and then the little sproggs said they still wanted to eat them was priceless. It was partly because they were so young I think.

Him making money is not mutually exclusive form him doing something worthwhile - indeed, if he wasn't making good money, a) he couldn't afford to do stuff for other people and b) people in powerful positions, wouldn't listen to him.

Absolutely there should not be "undue prominence" to s'burys products, but I believe the industry is kept in check on this point - he actually got into trouble for over-using his "flavour shaker" in one program.

I like him, I know others don't, but no-one can really knock some of the work he tries to do.

I think Jamie is a good guy especially compared to some of his peers. I find Gordon Ramsey an utter bore. He's used his fame to do a lot of good which is not something that many really do.

The ladies love Ramsey though. Well, my missus and some of her chums do at the very least. I think it's all that alpha-male stuff...and the fact he's a bloke who can cook a meal.

Whilst I did reasonably like him, I think he has become rather passe now. His restaurants are getting bad reveiws (he had to close one down recently), his holding company lost quite a lot of money lasy year - but I guess he personally did ok as he gets paid about $300k an episode of Hells Kitchen USA.

One thing to note about Ramsey though, the shouty/sweary personna you see on TV is just a front, in person away from the TV he's actually quite a nice quietish bloke from what i can tell.

My missus has actually met him and he was charm personified apparently, and not at all sweary.

True, there are a few cracks appearing in his empire. I know his LA and NYC restaurants got a lot of bad reviews (part of me does wonder if it was simply yanks moaning there were not any burgers on the menu though :lolol: ).

My biggest criticism is that whilst he is technically a brilliant chef..... he is not that creative.

as an aside, an Indian I regularly frequent is featured in his programme tonight: The Brilliant in Southall.

I thought evidence pointed to the contrary ?

Wrong target I think the school kids- you got to educate all these parents who have lost the ability to cook.

.. doesn't make quite a good programme though does it ?

that is why his next programme 'Ministry of food' was targetted at parents and yes you're right it didn't make as good tv

Didn't he manage to get rid of all that turkey twizzler crap that those school meal companies were dishing up.

Yes and he is really trying to change attitudes which is more than some do.

Fair play to him

Very interesting this week as Jamie really is winning the hearts and minds of quite a few people.
