That’s my theory anyway. Was never like this pre-internet or pre-Netflix.

You've just reminded me of another modern annoyance - how ludicrously quickly a Netflix show will skip into the next episode.

Been watching The Stranger (it's alright, plot's a bit wonky) and we just watched an episode that ended on a massive reveal. Credits. Boom. You want to take 5-10 seconds at MINIMUM to think over the ramifications of what's just happened, how it affects the information you already have from the plot.

But you get no time to do any of this. Within 5 seconds it's starting up the next episode. Sometimes the credits are a much needed moment to decompress - the same with a thoughtful ending to a great film.

Went to see Joker at Worthing Dome a few months back, and the SECOND the film ended, half of the cinema got up and started talking. Properly pissed me off no end.

I quite like the new Bond theme.. I bet it will work amazingly well against the opening credits.

There should be more films with a scene after the credits, just so the early leavers miss out.

Another one of those trailers which pretty much shows the climax to all the good bits, so I'll go in feeling like I've seen half of it already. "Oh here comes the bit where he spins the car round and shoots everyone". They did it with 1917 too - watching the dogfight in the sky "oh this must be when that the plane crashes into the barn and nearly kills them". Even the bloody ENDING when he's running alongside the trench with shells going off all over the shop.

Anyone remember when trailers used to TANTILISE, and leave a bit of mystery ? I can remember the trailers for ET, which barely showed a glimpse of the alien - you had to go and see the movie to actually see the creature. Then there was the Ghostbusters campaign, with posters of the Ghostbusters logo and "Coming to save the world....soon".

Anyway. Old fart, signing off.

Totally agree, and this is O/T, but I also HATE those trailers they show at the end of TV programmes showing what's coming next week; not only does it ruin the anticipation but also the dramatic tension. You've seen the bit in the trailer where (for example) they point their guns at each other in an abandoned factory, so whilst they're leading up to that you just sit there, disengaged, and mentally twiddling your thumbs waiting for the plot to catch up with what you already know.

Worst example recently was some WW2 hokum with Sean Bean as a pacifist. (Can't remember the title). There was a trailer showing one of the stars (a Polish woman) shooting a German soldier in a woodland scene. Before that bit she was arrested and was going to be hung, but obviously we all knew it wasn't going to happen as we hadn't had the woodland scene yet. (As it happened it was almost at the end). Wherever possible as soon as it says "Coming next ..." I grab the remote and change channels, but that time I wasn't fast enough.

Best Bond themes - Live and Let Die, and You Know My Name (Casino Royale). The latter also has the best opening credits IMO.

Casino Royale is also by far my favourite Bond movie, a brilliant and much needed reboot of the franchise.

You never can tell with Bond films but if think we are in for something a bit special and this title song only reinforces that. I love it.

Form what I remember all the new themes have had some harsh critics. Chris Cornell’s You Know My Name was panned being declared “too rock” for Bond. But when the film was released it seemed perfect.

This one will fit the new film and make sense I reckon.

The song has been out for half a day and you're putting it into historical context?!

No.

I'm so confused at how quickly album reviews come out. People making huge declarations on day one that it's the best or worst thing ever. You need at least 5-10 listens to an album to really get what it's about, in most cases imo.

The worst I recently saw was the recent His Dark materials adaption.

At the end of the episode, the main character seemingly falls to her death from a hot air balloon. Just 5 seconds later, the preview of the next episode is shown where she is wandering around without a scratch.

I’m convinced that if boffins invented something that could be smashed into the memory area of our brains that gave us the detailed memory of having watched a full series without having to watch it, a fair number of people would be sitting all day long smashing memories of series and films they’ve never seen into their brain cupboards.

( for some reason I heard Chris Morris saying “brain cupboards” as I wrote that).

Poor old Clamp. Sherlock got a memory palace, but clamp was late to the queue and all he got was a brain cupboard

From the trailer it all looks a bit too ‘Fast and Furious’ at the cost of the cerebral side of things, as though the Bond franchise is still chasing Bourne’s coat tails long after that ship has sailed. Less action more attention to storyline would be good, we shall see.

Not a bad theme tune for the last ever James Bond movie if rumours are to be believed. Can't wait for April 2020 and the release but I won't be going in future to watch Jane, Jemima or Jennifer or whatever Ms Bond will be called!
