**** SPOILER WARNING ****

Given that Bond and Noni arrived on the island in that super-duper state-of-the-art sub-aquatic stealth-plane which they conveniently parked in a secret little cave - why didn't Bond just escape in that ?

I'm sure Q would've sourced a vaccine from Astrazeneca or something for his viral issues soon enough.

Did they explain why he couldnt just use his watch to destroy the nanobots?

Saw it last night. My twopennyworth:

Not bad, I've never really been a huge Bond fan but I've really enjoyed the Daniel Craig ones. Couldn't quite follow all the plot; not sure why the Baddie, after getting his revenge on Spectre, wanted to wipe out vast chunks of the world's population, but never mind, I guess that's just what Baddies do. Ticked all the boxes that you expect from a Bond film: good car chases, good gadgets, Baddie had a secret island lair, etc. Also as befits a 21st century Bond film the sexism was dialled right back, and I know some didn't like it but I did like the 'emotional' side of Bond coming out. It was always there if you read the books, and of course in the line at the end of 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' where he says "We've got all the time in the world" as he cradles his dead wife. I loved the fact that they reused that line in this one!

My two biggest criticisms are more generic. Like a lot of modern films it was too long, I was fidgeting in my seat long before the end. And also, if you're planning on being a super-villain (I'm sure some of you are), then I have a tip for you - employ goons who can shoot straight! Either do your recruiting at a firing range or invest in some on-the-job training because ever since the days of the 'A Team' the baddies fire thousands of rounds of ammunition and never hit anything. The goodie then goes Pop! Pop! Pop!, and bingo! Three dead baddies. And there's never any blood, you never see any of them on the ground thrashing around and screaming in pain. Every hit's a kill and they just give a grunt and then lie still.

Anyway, yes, worth a trip out to see.

Scott Evil: Why don't you just shoot him now? I mean, I'll go get a gun. We'll shoot him together. It'll be fun. Bang! Dead. Done.

Dr. Evil: No, Scott. I have an even better idea. I'm going to place him in an easily escapable situation involving an overly elaborate and exotic death.

He died again tonight, in Hawkhurst Kino.

What a great little cinema.

The film, well the nine minutes it took for the missiles to hit their target was akin to time standing still for a Gross turn. Thought it was more like a homage to Bond as opposed to a film.

On to the new Bond/villain, and I hope they replace M.

I gave you a thumbs up (for taking the trouble to share yout experience), but let me stop you there.

No, that's a bit harsh. And you did post a lovely U2 track today.

I am a massive bond fan and, I repeat, like a big girl's blouse, caught unawares (I did not have any preformed expectations) I sobbed momentarily at the finale.:cry::facepalm:

For the likes of me, perhaps, it did the business, perhaps, also, unexpectedly, in this sometimes marvellous but sometimes ghastly world.

(and seriously, the first and 3rd U2 albums are sensational  - saw them at Jenkinsons in 1980, supported by the Comsat Angels)

David Mitchell has got it absolutely right on the ending. I didn’t hate it, I just disagree with it.

The annoying thing is that the film otherwise is excellent. The set pieces, the action, it was all I could ask for from a Bond film and it delivered spectacularly. I also liked that it took itself less seriously again, the big bad’s evil lair on a remote island highly welcomed. A little confused why there were a bunch of people wading around in acid, but who cares? If you haven’t watched it yet, go watch it, it is very good.

On another note, Madeline Swann lying about the thing that was so blatantly obvious to the entire audience was a bit stupid.

They will have to replace the whole lot really, which is a shame.

Um.... I didn't post a U2 track! I'm afraid, like with Bond films, I don't dislike them but I'm not a huge fan!

Watched it last night, Bond is dead, they can’t bring him back from the dead and a new character won’t be James Bond.

For me it’s all over , Bonds dead franchise is dead, if they resurrect Bond I won’t be going to watch a ‘ pretend ‘ Bond no matter what race/gender they are.

Thanks James Bond good films in the past but for me it’s all over now.

There was portraits of the previous Ms on the wall, so it’s the same universe.

I expect the next Bond movie to be in the same universe as well unless they make some kind of Star Wars merge with Jar Jar Binks as the main villain.

Plenty of options.

The next movie could be set in the past. Cant rule that one out.

Ian Fleming also killed Bond twice and then had him survive in different manners. Cant rule something like that out either: dude gets really ****ed but Q got some cool machine and turns him back to life.

Or they just ignore it.

Michael G Wilson has said for the last 30 years that the Bond movies are a series of series. While there has been no continuity to this approach either, its never been the case. In the older movies there are some references to the past, like Bond visiting Tracys grave in FYEO but its been very rare and in the Dalton and Brosnan movies there was very little of it aside from in DAD where the series turned 40 and they really had to honor Desmond Llewelyn somehow.

If it is done properly I think they can start a new "series in the series" without too much struggle and I'm sure Wilson & Broccoli wouldnt allow Bond to be killed off unless they had a plan how to move forward.

I'm definitely hoping they opt to make a series of movies set in the 50s or 60s.
