Remember last year, when we were saying similar about Gilmour - scarce playing time and rumours of him going out on loan last January, so still time for things to turn around.
This place wouldn't be the same if we weren't trying boot someone out of the squad.

OK. Of course I hope you're right.

I'm just getting, "RDZ doesn't fancy playing him. He won't be here next season" vibes about the whole situation. I may be off the mark
I’ve been getting the same vibes re RDZ and Ferguson

I agree re Moder - not sure re Ferguson. But I think Bloom would bin RDZ if that was the case

I don’t think RDZ fancies Ferguson at all, he never praises him …almost criticises him in matches where he has scored, going back to Stoke in the cup last season “he can improve and he MUST improve “

Hopefully I’m wrong but it’s been nagging at me for a long time - obviously Joao Pedro is brilliant and first name on the sheet for a striker but I would never have thought last season that Welbz would start in front of Ferguson other than the whole “looking after him because he’s young scenario” Now you just expect it to be Welbeck.

As far as Moder is concerned I’m not sure what’s going on … he needs minutes .. we need midfielders so what’s all that about ?

RDZ has done EXACTLY the same thing with various younger players...Pedro, Enciso last season (remember when he scored that worldie at Chelsea and he criticised him for stopping playing afterwards?), Buonanotte etc. It is simply RDZ's style of management.

I hear what you’re saying, I try to think like that but I’m nowhere near convinced re ferguson. Somethings not right

Clearly something is not right but what we don't know is whether he is jut not fit (persistent niggling injury or growing pains etc) or whether mentally he is not right i.e. he wants away or has an issue e.g. money. Either way it leaves us short numbered up front especially with Jao being injured.

He played well against Palace and didn’t deserve to be dropped for Spurs.

A lot of our fans just assume he should be starting and scoring more and assume the only reason he isn't is because "De Zerbi doesn't rate him"

He is VERY young. Not the finished article and needs to develop his game.
He is getting less starts now because he is (and always has been) second choice to Wellbeck.
Pedro has proven himself to be a stronger player too.

He had more starts earlier in the season when RDZ was unsure about Pedro and Wellbeck's minutes were being carefully managed.
Back then we had March, Estupinan and Mitoma creating havoc and he got better opportunities.

That is all that has changed, IMO.

Yep. And this time last year people thought RDZ didn't rate Gilmour, and that he was going to leave. Actually, RDZ thought he could do more than he was, and was pushing and pushing him until finally he did enough, and then he broke into the team consistently and became one of our best players. There is absolutely no way that RDZ 'doesn't rate' Ferguson. He'll be back and scoring goals again at some point this season.

I'm not buying that:

"He's like a son" - https://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/soccer/arid-41294749.html
"He played very well not only for the goals, but because he played for the team for 90 minutes" -
"Evan deserves this new contract. He has a very big future ahead of him.” - https://www.tntsports.co.uk/footbal...says-he-has-very-big-f_sto9877212/story.shtml

And so on.

Of course he is demanding more and believes he can (and needs to) improve. He does need to improve. RdZ's way is to help young players see what they need to do to achieve their potential. That's not the same as going cold on a player.

I’m comfortable that when Ferguson should be playing, he’ll play. Young players can be wildly variable in their performances, and I’d rather see Ferguson develop over the long term than do that thing so many young attacking players do, and have one stellar season followed by year on year decline. I trust the club and coaches to manage him correctly.

Back on topic, given Hinshelwood’s injury, I do hope to see Moder on the pitch a bit through to the end of the season. Even if it’s cameo appearances, better some competitive minutes than none.

Moder needs time, and lots of it. I don't expect to see him at near full strength until after a full pre-season with the squad. The guy has had almost two full years out injured. Most of that time he would have literally been nowhere near kicking a football in his garden, let alone on a Premier League pitch. This season is the latest in several steps to a recovery.

On Ferguson, he got off to too fast a start in my opinion. He's 19 and his form will be patchy. Just needs time, patience and to listen to his coaches.
