...........and that he "will need them (Moder and Fati) in the crucial part of the season." Bit of a blow to those who seem to expect/want Moder to be whisked out the door ASAP (along with Webster, Dahoud, Alzate, etc.)!!

He's been unavailable to pick because of injury for over a year!

Thought that was his best game for us. As the previous posts have said, he showed remarkable experience and knowledge of the game when he tracked back and stayed on his feet for the McAtee counter but what really stood out to me was his pace! Didn’t know he had that speed in him.

One thing i’ll point out that i think some people are missing is that RDZ has shown that he really likes him, straight into the side when he came back from injury and has been getting more and more game time. My guess is that it’s his remarkable all round game that RDZ likes, he’s not amazing at 1 thing like Gilmour, but he’s pretty good at everything and doesn’t have a real weakness (that I can identify). The Baleba comparison is misleading, they are very different players in my eye.

Moder has a game based on short flicked or prodded passes in tight areas, which you can well imagine RDZ warming to and wanting to find a space for in a central left attacking mid kind of role.

I don't see Moder as someone who will score loads, or play raking diagonal passes, or carry through the midfield like MacAllister would. And that is just fine to help us out this season. Not putting him in my FPL though!

Also agree that he's not like for like with Baleba, who if he plays, this is likely to be at Gilmour's expense as the deepest midfielder who is there to receive from the keeper and get his head up ... and further up the field, to decide our point of attack to unlock a packed defence as a scrum half might do in rugby

I'm with you. But I think we would need to modify our set up so I think next season is more likely so that Jakub can get properly fit.

I could see us going with one "sitting" midfielder, Gilmour. An Attacking right midfielder, Gross and an attacking left midfielder, Moder. (Hinsh and Barco potential deputies) Still two wingers, but just one striker.

Right, now if you'll excuse me, i'll just get back to my game of football manager

You say that, but his contract is running low. Far from clear that he'll sign a new deal given that he appeared to want to move for game time.

One possibility is that we sell while we can get something.

RDZ comments were interesting post game that Moder is good at find spacing behind the defending line...which I suspect is why he was introduced second half, to break the low block.

I was paying Jakub close attention.
He was desperate to get on the end of a Groß cross, but they just didn't come in.
Less so with the wingers but he definitely wanted to be targeted for the crosses coming in from 20-30 yards deep as opposed to the by-line.

I think I've said it before, but my recollection is he often got in good positions, but then nearly always failed to convert.

Like Adam Lallana. But a bit taller.

I watched him a lot last night - he strolls round the pitch but covers a lot of ground and always seemed to be in the right position to make a tackle or interception and lay off a simple ball. Gross-esque.

He’s got a problem, that I don’t think he’ll ever really score goals or get many assists, he’ll never make barnstorming runs or crunching tackles. He’ll never cross like Gross, nor show incredible touch like Lallana. He’ll never hit booming diagonals, he’ll never intimidate an opponent

His game is based around quick short passing. Around first time little pokes and prod to get him out a tight spot and get us up the pitch. He finds space between the lines impressively.

The question is. Is this enough?
