Jakey Jakey Robinson

Watson? Brooker?

But of course, it's been 3 months since the last "Robinson bottles everything and so is shit" thread.

He's not totally crap but offers so very little to the team defensively and in any 50:50 situation he will hold back - we all know that surely?
It becomes a question of whether you can start with someone like this in the side; if he regularly terrorised defences forcing them to hold extra players back to cover a perceived threat when they're attacking then fine but he doesn't. Camio performances such as at Orient last season are just not enough and if he is going to play then he must contribute more to the team.

I dont think Gatting haS enough about him, very slow and didn't see willing to bust a gut. I was impressed with the 10 minutes of Gargan away at Bristol Rovers. Seemed willing to run his nuts off and had a bit of presence about him.

I would probably go Big target man, gives the two wingers someone to run off.

As Forster is more likely to be injured/knackered i would have gone for the more fleet footed faster player myself.

When i saw Gatting in the reserves at Woodside Rd i thought he played ok but does lack a bit of pace

Micky Adams mentioned both Cox and Robinson yesterday with regrads to the signing of McCleod, saying they were all great crossers of the ball form wide areas. I am sure Adams is happy to have them all in his squad.

Robinson is a qulaity player and could easily play at championship level, he is only 22 and lots to learn. Already has great experience with us, long may he stay an Albion player.

Cannot see Adams standing for the type of player he is, he'll not tolerate anyone that can't handle a tackle, he likes his players HARD, suspect it'll be Robinson's last year with the Albion

Yet he signed Paul Brooker!

Gatting has got what a lot of great strikers have, the ability to put the ball in the net. His chance to goal ratio must be high, like many tall slow forwards he can be frustrating to watch but as long as he keeps scoring goals, keep him around.

What he lacks in pace he makes up for in strength, he's not a fast striker he is a target man. He'll score goals given the chance.

Yeah i wouldn't get rid of him but i can't see him making waves in the first team just yet, I suppose after pre season we will have a better idea of who the first choice palyers will be.

Very very ocassionally Robinson looks a decent player. He's too lightweight, and as far as I can see adds nothing more than being able to beat a player (and then going back and trying to do it again - with most of the time ending up losing it).

Yes, but one of the first players Adams brought in last time was ... Paul Brooker.

Not one of the first was he ? We went through the dogs of war stage when every game turned into a fight - then he bought Brooker when he realised we were not actually creating much.

I doubt Adams will place much faith in youth. There are times when we play teams and it looks like men against boys. Adams likes to have a team of men.

Paul Brooker always got stuck in right???

I think with adams this is jakes last chance. It will be very interesting to see who he actually lets go this summer if indeed he lets anyone else go at all.

I dont understand all this.

A young player who only ever played in 1 position and has now been asked to learn something new. Its hard enough to change to a new position in sunday league football. If you aint used to it then its alwasy difficult.

He may not tackle loads but he is certainly making progress with the positiion he holds when defending these days.

I am a fan of jakes but think this may well be his last chance this year.

I think Adams can get the best out of him, and if he can mould him into a Paul Brooker type then id be happy.
