He thinks he can keep up with the big boys in winding me up.

Has a long way to go. ;)

He wouldn't be much good for us there either. Seriously, I am glad McGhee is putting his foot down on this because I'm afraid Iwelumo is taking the piss. A professional football club can't have players wandering in and out when they fancy it - or in this case not even wandering in at all.

High up on the South Downs.
McGhee was keen to sign him but he probably feels let down now and is looking to avoid paying Stoke cash. There aren't many big strikers available or out of contract. Perhaps Brian Deane could do for a season.

One of the most important factors in our survival campaign this season will be the player's willingness to work together as a highly motivated team that will not give up throughout each of the 46 games.

For this to happen, Mark McGhee (drinking pints of whisky) must have the total commitment of the players in the squad. He has shown that if the players are not prepared to commit to him or the club, then he will show them the door.

Good man

:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Well, good for Mark McGhee - decisive management. He obviously feels alternatives to Big Chris are available - I think that's a positive.

So that probably is the last we'll see of Big Chris in the stripes. I bear him no ill will, he's got a family and has to get the best deal, and of course so does the Albion. It's business. I hope it works out for him somewhere else.

He came across as a very bright guy by the standards of pro footballers. He had his limitations but never gave less than 100 per cent while he was here. Four goals and some decisive assists in the play-off matches. He did a good job for us.

His presence focused the playing style of the team and it will be interesting to see what McGhee will do now gameplan-wise without him.

I also wouldn't underestimate his role in the amazing team spirit that carried the team to promotion. He was a natural leader and I'd be willing to bet played his part in re-integrating the spiky personality and talents of Leon into the team while he was here.

Good luck Big Chris, it's been a pleasure

If he does have relatives they may think he is on holiday. He could be passed out on a beach in Ibiza and no body would know and he might turn up in ten years time with a huge beard and an increasing drug problem and then how silly would you feel Yorkie?!

Richard,

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I was going to type words fail me, but that would be a lie.

You are such a muppet, I can't believe that you come up with stuff like the above and didn't feel a prick when you press "submit reply" :nono:

If you feel that I victimise you, then tough, keep posting shit like the above, I'm going to be on your case, ALWAYS

It's interesting that most people on this thread seem to be praising McGhee for putting his foot down. I'll be sure to bounce this thread with a few dunce smilies when in 3 months time we are bottom of the league by 6 points because McGhee has failed to sign a single decent striker capable of playing anywhere near this level. Of course, if he now goes out and finds a striker then I take it all back!

I'd be a lot more happy with McGhee telling big Chris to get stuffed if he had bothered to improve that area of the squad instead of buggering off on holiday immediately after the play-off final. Perhaps he should have improved tha squad first and *then* gone on holiday...

From the Express

"Brighton lose player"

"Brighton, newly promoted to the Championship, (old Div 1) this season, have egg on their faces this morning.

Manager Mark McGee yesterday slated big striker Chris Iwelumo for not turning up to pre season training this week.

However, it was revealed by a source close to the club today, that Iwelumo has been found on a sixth floor balcony at the hotel in Cardiff where the team stayed following their playoff final win a few weeks ago.

Team mate Dan Harding was also found on the balcony - they had been locked out of their room as a joke by team mate Charlie Oatway who was filming an inhouse video of the teams trip to Cardiff. Both Harding and Iwelumo had been living on rain water and food scraps left by the team following their celebration party.

Oatway has apologised to the pair and been fined two weeks wages by the club. He commented - "I did it for a joke and then got drunk and forget about them, and I went on three weeks holiday straight after the party"

Amazingly, no one had noticed that Harding was also missing from pre season. McGee commented - "Dan's a quiet lad and we hadn't missed him"

Let's not worry too much that we haven't got a replacement for Iwelumo right now....I seem to remember that we didn't sign Zamora until about three days before the start of the 2000/01 season. There's planty of time yet.
