Still feel like a :dunce: but thats life I suppose.

For what its worth, he does (apparently) pay up eventually according to a couple of the folks down there tonight who he's borrowed cash from before. Paying up by lunchtime today was apparently slightly optimistic though.

Fear not, Easy. There may be a rational explanation and he will come up trumps. Even if you do not get the money back, you can be satisfied that you are a trusting and giving person who sees the best in people. There are not many of them left.

I would agree with that. You never know, he may surprise you yet.

Only when we get full details of what happened
Oh ALRIGHT

I went to his parents house (where he still lives - how pathetic). His mother answered the door, he wasn't in, so I apologised for troubling her and was invited in. I explained the whole sorry episode, whereupon she phoned his cousin to see if he was there. He was. She then proceeded to give him the BIGGEST bollocking over the phone I have ever heard, which culminated in her calling him a little TWAT, and that this was "not over" and she would "speak with him later".

She then produced her purse - which appeared to have the gross natioanal deficit of Liberia housed within its musky leathery folds. She gave me £60, I thanked her kindly, then made my excuses and left.

Job done. Now can I be Easy 10 again please ? I don't feel right.

You mugged her, didn't you?

Admit it.
She was so sweet that I really hesitated taking the cash from her, but she insisted, and I firmly got the impression that her son was IN FOR IT when he turned up home. A formidable looking woman. She was a bit like a 300lb Jilly Cooper, very well spoken.

Look, if I was down to my last fiver but I thought someone else needed it more, then I probably would still lend it. I'm generally a very good natured chap - some would obviously call it gullible, or stupid - but I've gathered many close friends being how I am, and I'm going to try not to let this mildly annoying experience change my attitude.

Anyone need a tenner ?
