Er, the temperatures have been above average for nearly 4 months.

That sounds nice and I quite believe they have....but wheres the sun been most of the time?

Hidden behind large cloud and not even a sign of it.

6/10 for summer....same old!

We were hearing about this being the best summer for 50 years...all the expectation like the world cup!

The temps have been higher, but nothing to write home about.

It has actually been a very good summer!

My thread Hot! Hot Hot on 1st August was................

June & July have recorded unusually consistant & continual very warm temperatures.

Indeed during July, Shoreham Airport reached 20 degrees, on 29 days.
Including June, 20 degrees has been recorded on 47 days.

Over the same two months:

2009: 28
2008: 33
2007: 25
2006: 38
2005: 33
2004: 29
2003: 41
2002: 14
2001: 30

Since then, we have only had 4 days so far in August where the temperature has failed to hit 20 degrees.

We are actually on course to have the second warmest summer this century!!!

Im strongly thinking of moving overseas again.

If we had 4 months solid good weather, this would be by far the best country in the world.

But this one day windy, one day rain, 2 days sunshine is a nightmare.

A good 4 months solid sunshine is whats needed, never going to happen here tho so should just get on with it

i completely disagree - four months of sunshine sounds awful to me.

I love the fact that you can have rain and sun so interchangeably; I love the fact that we have proper seasons.

As I've mentioned before, I think the weather in the UK is perfect, one of the truly great things about this country - never too hot, never too cold, no hurricanes/typhoons/tornadoes, no monsoons etc. I truly reckon this is the best country in the world when it comes to weather.

Thats the great thing about life, we have different opinions.

I loved living overseas, the outdoor lifestyle....eating outdoors...nice warm evenings...just puts a smile on my face!

Think I suffer from that seasonal stuff

I was great early on but once the unsettled stuff sets in that seems to be it.It happened last 2 summers.I suppose it is just a normal British summer.September has been really good last few years.

For me, it's been a decent summer.

Excellent harvest from our Bramley apple tree, half a dozen crumbles worth of plums, a good 40lb of King Edwards, a fair whack of strawberries, some beautifully sweet-tasting peas, a dozen or so hefty-sized beetroot, and over the next month, we will be blackberry picking on the South Downs to our heart's content.

No lack of jams and chutneys, if nothing else, this year.

Not a sunny summer but not wet,my water butts were empty for over 3 weeks up until this week, regular cloudy days with fresh cooling winds, at least you could get out without being drenched

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
Here it started off very sunny but very cold due to northerly wind straight of the arctic for a couple of months. We had about 3 to 4 weeks of warm weather, so it barely rained for about three months. for the last month it has been warm but perpetually overcast and damp.

If you count a good summer by the amount of warm sunshine, this has been poor - like last year

Ridiculous whingeing. The last three weeks have been shite, but the previous 8-12 weeks were GLORIOUS.
