I haven't misunderstood, I understand quite clearly what you are saying. You made the point about people saying it's only November, and Adams out is the main reason people use that statement.

Nobody uses it as an excuse, we have been poor at times, but this all started back in the middle of October. When all the 'Adams out' 'relegation' started we weren't doing great, but we weren't doing terribly badly either. In my opinion the fans started far too early with the doom and gloom and I think in some ways has quite a bit to do with how things have eventually become now.

I thought the Adams out started far too early, but unfortunately with hindsight it looks like those people were the few who could see how useless a manager Adams is, and how the team would still be performing like shit 2 months down the line.

i remember last season people being very critical of the team and doubting wilkins for large periods, yet we still managed to finish 7th

sorry, but the players and management cant use that as an excuse

I'm sorry but your post is rubbish, especially the middle bit. How can you call it the beginning of the season when we've played 4 short of the halfway stage. I think this is exactly why people get sick of hearing "it's only November...". The implication is that it's far too early to say where we'll end up but a little bit of maths and a look at our form and general performance will tell you we would have to do something quite remarkable to be even close to the play offs.

The main aim of the season was to make the play offs, it seems now everyone would be satisfied with staying up. Well done Adams, what an achievment.
One thing we do agree on - you're right, we're definetely not good enough to go up. Who knows though, with Wilkins in charge we might have been.

Two things.

So because we might fail to make the play-offs and ultimately go up Adams has failed, even though he's got another two years in charge. This is exactly the kind of attitude that has set the doom and gloom.

Secondly, do you have a crystal ball?

Another thing I can't stand is people saying...'We're just not getting the rub of the green'.

NO!

We're just not playing well enough. Most of the time in football, you make your own luck. Are we exempt from this, and somehow our destiny is controlled by the Gods of football?

All this Wilkins stuff is irrelevant. He has gone. I will still say I never rated him as a manager and last season was a very weak league (MK Dons, Peterborough, Leicester, Leeds without 15 point deduction etc mean it is much stronger now). Anyway, we have Micky Adams in charge now and, while we are not doing great, realistically he will not be sacked (quite rightly) partly due to common sense and partly finances so why not accept this and support the team or go and support Palace.

Exactly, and so do you not think because it started FAR too early this has become the mindset? Adams and the players know exactly what is going on amonsgt the fans, do you not think they feel a great deal of pressue after fans getting on the backs of the manager and players after only 2 months?? Instead of the fans getting behind the team and waiting to see until at least the beginning of next year.

This season what's seemed to have happened, more than any other time, is the increasing divide between players/manager and fans.

so people are supposed to pay £23, turn up and pretend nothing is wrong?

No one is supposed to pretend nothing is wrong, did I say that? Of course people can moan, of course people won't be happy, but there's a huge difference between that and calling for the manager to be sacked and the massive negativity.

Again.

I have never once called for the manager to be sacked.

I'm just dumfounded by the amount of supporters who are using excuses like 'It's only November'. That's a cover up.

Lets face it, we ARE going to be lucky to stay up this season if the current form doesnt change, and sharpish!

BUT

there have been a lot of changes and maybe the team didnt have enough time to gel.

New manager means a new way of doing things, new training drils, new tactics, new way of management. Couple that with new faces in the playing staff and coaching staff and it is going to take some time to adjust. The thing that has caught us is that we didnt adjust before the season started and once you get into a bad run its very difficult to get out of it.

Loosing becomes a habit once you've got a habit its very difficult to get out of it.

I think the main objective for this season is now to stay up, and to be honest I dont think that anyone at the club beleived that we would be pushing play-off places.

Over the Summer, Adams needs to make some tweaks to the team and not bring in loads of new faces.

NEXT season will be the one where we will push for play-offs.

I knew this phrase would roll on...

It started with 'It's only September'. Then 'It's only October' and now 'It's only NOVEMER'.

Sake! :censored:

...are these people going to be saying 'It's only May'? ???

P.S. Not sure if anyone has noticed that it's actually nearly DECEMBER!

This has also been winding me up. Yes it's only NOVEMBER, but we're just THREE games from Christmas, and thus almost marking the halfway point.

At last...

Some f***ing sense! Now I'll just wait for a lot of other people to wake up...

But we pushed for the play offs last season. And if we'd stuck with the same manager we probably would be having an even bigger push this season. I know Adams is a new manager but he came into a successful team.

The rest of your post is irrelevant excuses. All teams go on bad runs - and they get out of them. That's why they'e good teams, thats why we're not.

Also, Adams had a long time before the start of the season since he came in quite early. Considering managers come in days before games (eg. Redknapp at Tottenham) and make successful teams I'm not sure you can use that as an excuse either.

That hits the nail on the head. If theses players arent good enough for MA would they be for a new manager. Please dont quote Spurs and Rednapp as that is totally different. A new manager would want mon ey to buy players in the January window and if we paid MA off where would that money come from.

I think that we are better off giving him the money to spend to ensure our survival and hopefully a much better 2nd half to the season and then have a look at the situation again in May

Why are you so convinced he would bring good players in January , when he got shit or players he can't get the best out of in pre season?

He has had the chance to see what the division is about and the players that he has brought in and also what are here so I would hope and expect that any coming in would be better than we have. If they are not then is the time that he should go as he will have proved that the job is beyond him..

The league is much tougher now because we have MK Dons, Leicester, Peterborough and Leeds in it? Not sure if you're aware of this but three teams go up. We finished seventh last year which means three of the teams that finished ABOVE(that is to say better than) us got promoted. They've been replaced by MK Dons, Peterborough and Leicester. Leeds, even with the 15 point deduction finished above us, so the fact that they've not got a 15 point deduction is utterly irrelevant.

Saying the league is stronger is a cop out. The league may be a bit stronger than last year but not so much so that a side that finished seventh should find itself in a relegatrion dogfight with only two league wins in the last 15 league games. That's a THIRD of the season. Two wins over a space of 33% of the season. That is a SHIT run of form and is 100% a cause for concern.

Having said that, I agree that Adams is not going to be sacked and calling for his head is unproductive. But I'm worried about this season and how we've ended up in this situation, and a lot of other people are too. And we have valid reasons to be.
