Oh NSCers - just can’t see the sunny side of life - the untoasted bit provides a ‘handle’ to pull the toast out of the toaster when done so you don’t burn your fingers of course

(it also prevents idiots like me getting electrocuted when I stick a knife into the toaster to remove the toast 😁)

What a great bread topic this is …
Mrs Bodian purchased me some special wooden toast tongs to stop me doing this.

You should try cheese on toast, with either marmite or pickle / chutney under the cheese.
Makes a right mess of the toaster that does,

Trapezium?
Probably the correct name ,
It would have two 90° angles ( the shape of the 🍞) and two others that add up to 180° , Then the top slice slides over the bottom piece dropping into and filling the slot, done properly the lower slice can still be lifted out by it's corner thus alleviating the need to pick up, turn over and shake the toaster spreading burnt crumbs all over the kitchen...

I recall @Bozza being in the market for a new toaster a few years ago. What did you get?

I have a Dualit (many years old now), and have never been happy with the lack of evenness of toasting both on a slice, and between slots…
