My 4S seems fine so far. Slicker than before even, but will wait and see. It's all backed up, so easy enough to reset to iOS7 if it slows it down.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but downgrading to iOS7 if the 4S can't handle the processing is more complicated than just having an iTunes back up...

Isn't it?

Please ignore this post from this idiot, as it's not easy as all that to go back……:dunce:

Luckily it does all seem okay on the 4S.

updated mine this morning and it did not go well! downloaded the update on my work PC overnight so it was ready to go when i came in this morning hooked it up to iTunes so i didnt have to clear off any of my app / music / photos hit the update button and away it went, about 20 minutes in cue an error on-screen "iphone could not be updated: Unknown Error" and that was it the phone became an expensive paperweight momentarily at least... what then followed was a full factory reset followed by an iCloud backup restore having to reinstall all my apps, resync my music and my photos and then having to update all my apps.... 2 hours later the phone was back in business running iOS8 and has been fine ever since but not the smooth process i'm used to with apple.... on the plus side the reset and restore is all automated so it was totally hands off but it did mean 2 hours without a working phone which was a slight pain.

Last iphone I has was a 3S and it did that every time it updated although it was not a case of leaving it to it I had to hook it up to a second PC once I had the error, download and update from itunes to then go back to my original PC to fully sync - every update no matter how big or small took hours for me to sort - 1 reason I never went back along with after about 15 months I no longer ever got signal and apple wanted a load of money to fix it and Orange were not bothered as I was still in the middle of a 24 month contract but past a year - worst service I have ever received in my life and cost a fortune overall

I want to update mine via iTunes to save space but I have not connect to iTunes for a very long time, at least a year and the computer I used then is long gone so will it recognise the music I gone on it and save it or would I have to start again?

Can someone help me out with advice? Please.

As long as you have your Apple ID, the password/email combo you use to sign into the App Store, you're good to go. Doesn't matter where your music is 'physically', it's all tied to your account with Apple, and will show up again on your devices.

Do. Not. Worry.

My 4S has been fine so far. Not noticed any performance lag and some of the features are pretty good. Browsing and email all seem fine. The new time-lapse video looks a good additional as well.

Quick question for you: iPhoto has gone, what is the new photo app like? I'm holding off updating the iPad as I use iPhoto on it a lot...

Looks like it, mine is saying I can upgrade. Think I'll hang on a while and see if there are any reports to come.

Mine took ages to download on the ipad2, not much difference at the moment. The new keyboard is strange and they kind of copied the way my windows phone works in that regard. It suggest words for you but slows down the typing. You can get rid of this. Safari (explorer) is a little different. Just need to get used to some bits. I need to have a look into it more but not many major changes that I have found.

My iphone 5 has completey crashed since the update. I get a flashing apple screen when plugged in, and trying the reset trick does not work. A factory reset is probably what it needs but cant get it turned on to do this. Not showing up in itunes either despite a full charge.

Anyone know of any secret tricks?
