I bet there is mass confusion in Whitehawk Moulscoombe and parts of Hangleton.

We've just been touring the roads of Sussex in our Cortina, just what lovely Sundays are for, not because its Dads day, but because Zef's loves to do it...and we get to stop and farm shops here and there....

I never recognised Mother's Day or Father's Day when my parents were alive. My justification then was ... "When there's a Son's Day, I'll buy you something on Mother's/Father's Day".

if i say that my dad replies its always daughters (or sons) day.

techenacally my mum brought my dad a book from me. but i'm going to get him some beer and champaign to watch the spanish football with :clap2:

Hither (sometimes Thither)
I was 10 when my male maker dropped dead. He was 36. Heart attack. I like to think how his life and death meant so little to my own adult days i was so young when he passed, but i tend to believe now that the latter of the two caused an earlier introduction to the brevity of the former than was emotionally healthy.
So, it's not a case of knowingly missing his life, feeling neglected by his departure, but more of dealing with the fact that people die, that funerals half-full of strangers happen, that mothers and siblings cry a lot, and that hymns and psalms mean not very much at all.

Happy Fathers Day.

From my 4 kids & 5 G'kids I got some good wishes and 1 card but mrs would get annoyed if i got more than her!

I had hoped to take myself off for a Sunday roast and a pint but the bike ride has made me a prisoner in this part of town & there are no pubs in bevendean.

Just had a phone call from my daughter. She needed to know my credit card number, because she wanted to ensure I didn't miss a "treat" next month.

But she did wish me a happy father's day.

:)

I can't be doing with Father's Day! Another excuse for the makers of excruciating greetings cards to cash in. We never had this sort of malarkey when I was young! Pshaw!

Father's day really is a bunch of crap (just like mother's day).

Decent kids appreciate their fathers every day of the year and don't need a special day (invented, no doubt, by Hallmark Cards) on which they have to be reminded what a good Dad they've got.

I have told my sons never under any circumstances to buy me a card or gift for Father's Day ... ever!

I never recognised Mother's Day or Father's Day when my parents were alive. My justification then was ... "When there's a Son's Day, I'll buy you something on Mother's/Father's Day".

One of the saddest days of the year is Mother's Day when all these poor mothers get dragged out to lunch by their offspring as though it's the only time they get taken out. Awful.

100% agree. My dad is like that, he allways tells us not to buy him a card/present coz he dosent agree/believe in it.
