It's not just the climate issue. I've done 6 tours of Canada, 4 tours of the US and Oz/NZ and a few bits in Europe and hated every single moment of every single flight...which is a lot of minutes

Problem is I booked the Eurostar unaware of the strike, so that option gets me back too late. A right piss off all round....You can get down there ok presumably?
We don't know about trains heading north on Friday - some are confident there will be some services, with others saying all long-distance services will run, so one option is to just book it and hope.
Other than that, you could stay an extra day and depart Rome on Saturday when the strike is over.
The other option, and something I wasn't aware of before someone posted about it on here, is the Nightjet overnight service. Someone on here has booked from Rome to Munich. Presumably once there your journey should be fine.

Considering it seems to be a national strike that is a week or so away, getting exact information on what is affected/what will run seems to be ridiculously difficult.
Yep, looks like their 23/24 Feb strike when impact only confirmed several days before.
Is there any clues accessible from that strike as to what services ran?
If you go to the trenitalia website there is a list of guaranteed services during strikes. If you then use the Viaggia Treno site you can plan your journey . Cross reference the options to see if any are on the guaranteed list . We are flying from Florence and can get the 9420 train from Napoli to Venice , which stops at both Roma and Firenze . Hopefully that makes sense ?

Just had look on there for our train, and there are loads to Florence but our specific one at 12.25 is not listed but a 12.10 and 12.35 are but with different train numbers to the one we have. Weird.Trenitalia - ViaggiaTreno
