We got back to withdean...so 7 years or so?

Worst squad we have had in 7 years

Most inexpiereinced full term manager for 7 years

Lowest gates for 7 years

Fans being forced into losing faith in the board.

No players attracted to club...or anywhere near to be.

A threat of relegation to the lowest level of english football...AGAIN.

A list as long as your arm of players out of contract in summer.

Very worrying times.

discuss!

Not really, we have a squad packed with talented youngsters, Falmer is round the corner (if it hadn't been for the anally retentive LDC we would have had the confirmed yes, not the maybe yes, and this thread would be irrelevant), we are assured that funding will start to flood in when construction begins on the new stadium. Granted the manager isn't the most experienced in the league, but who do you expect we could attract, he has my full backing and is clearly as passionate about the club as anyone who posts on here.

We aren't going down.

I think the term packed with tealented youngsters in a little generous....Cox is pure quality agreed and so is lynch..going on from there..i think talented or just average for their age is more on the money?

Falmer is defo not round the corner.....we all know if it was built by 2011 would be a surprise...as for wilkins he will do for this season...cos there is no1 else...going forward im not sold if he's the man for the job..time will tell on that one.

He worries me with his selection and players positional tactics....As for passion and a fan at heart, there is better than wilkins..agree!

The squad is packed with talented youngsters, it just needs a few more experienced players in the team to bring out the best in them, so we don't have to rely solely on their youthful exuberence. Our defence looked its best when we had Hinsh and Tank in the centre with Whing and one other, experience and youth combined...if we could repeat that throughout the team then we would probably be OK...when is Charlie likely to be fit again?

Just need to get through this season and stay in League One really. The youngsters are getting stronger and smarter and more confident. And surely to God a Falmer decision will be announced that doesn't involve another Public Inquiry - tho it wouldn't surprise me in the least if that is exactly what was announced.

I dont think we'll get Falmer anymore. LDC whip us at the PR game and I think weve lost the publics interest, I can easily see Kelly calling another enquiry or just saying no build it somewhere else.

Kids, Kids, Kids. Until we get experience these kids will struggle, and expect the better ones to be sold over the summer to balance the books.

Crowds will drop until we get a team that looks like it might win more than it loses. Season ticket sales next season will be horrendous if we dont bring in players who can make a difference.

I still think we could go down this season, and if not next season we will be one fo the faves for the drop with this squad. I also think if we went down we would struggle in Div 2. Actually I think this is the worst the playing side has looked since we had Brian Horton in charge.

Just one thing... what do you base this nugget of information on?

Planning applications are not won or lost on PR battles, but on legal, technical and planning issues. A battle, incidentally we have already won once.

As for the 'lost the public's interest', every non-Albion fan coming into the shop (on seeing an Albion top I am wearing) asks me about the stadium situation, and wishes us luck. Believe me, when other fans think about Brighton, they think of the problems we're having getting our ground. Aside form the gay bit, it's what they most associate us with.

The only way we might be building somewhere else is if the transport consultants Lewes District Council are employing come up with an absolutely blinding, super-dooper, cheap method of resolving the transport issues over Sheepcote. The Albion's transport experts couldn't do it, nor could the city council's, so how are Lewes' experts going to manage it?

So cheer up. :)

Personally I'll only cheer up re: Falmer when LDC have exhausted all of their avenues of appeal. Because while they can appeal, they will, and there's not a thing the club can do about it.

agree with most of that.

Your last point is particularly true. The Chesterfield result seems to of masked a few into thinking it will all be ok but lets get this right. We have 1 win 7 and have just lost our top scorer

Would really like to see Nathan Elder get a proper run out. Joe Gatting plays with his back to goal most of the time and that's no good to the Albion at the current time.

I will only be happy when there are diggers in the field at falmer and every time you pass it the dream gets that little bit closer.

hey everyone - come over here. A visionary is writing

Of course, only a real genius like albion dan can forsee that there may be a reopened public inquiry. Oh hang on, didn't Lord B put us on notice about this last November?

But hey, lets' all go over to NIMBY Side Chat and see if Anne De Vecchi has to put up with reading Ethel from Falmer saying' You know what, I think that the Albion might get Falmer.'

Ah but the nimbys dont have to worry about 'friendly fire' shooting themselves in the foot.

We however do have that problem. It is obviously post modernism that makes it popular and hip to be seen to be doing down the only real hope of a future we have and by inference, criticising the efforts of many who are given in some cases over 3 hours of their private time a day to help secure the stadium.

IMHO the lad has every right to de depressed about the Falmer prospects. One more Public Inquiry = another couple of years delay (plus the inevitable appeals bullshit) = another gaping hole in the funds = almost certain Conference football. We're just about to pass the ten year milestone of the Goldstone being knocked down. We won't exist by the twentieth milestone.

Great idea but I thought that Elder needed to work on his fitness levels? Mind you, Gatting doesn't exactly look the fittest player I've ever seen.

:D

I see your point - but I do think that being negative about our one and only hope of a future does seem to be the 'new black' of NSC.

Surely it is better to channel all that hurt and aggression and helping to secure it? The constant negativity actually is a self fulfilling prophecy about losing support.

But it isn't just this post, there have been a few by some, including albion dan, recently that try to paint themselves as the deliverers of doom by rehashing points that have already been raised.

Sorry I aired my thoughts on the matter, I forgot that you shouldnt do that on a CHAT forum.

Im not allowed to say that I think the public enquiry may be reopened as my opinion?

Friendly Fire? WTF are you on about? Im only calling things how I feel they might go, does that deserve the pathetic attempt at sarcasm.

The same Brian Horton who started the rebuilding of this club on the field that MA carried on and got the credit for.

The worst ever side that this club has seen is probably the one at Gillingham during Jeff Woods time prior to Nobby taking over.

This team is way above that in ability and they were all experienced pros.
