Is this the most eagerly anticipated Palace fixture ever?....

Not beating us at home for the WHOLE of the late seventies and early eighties in a league match would suggest that you are very wrong. I haven't actually checked this but it is my recollection. I also remember winning at their place quite often  This was the last time that were on an equal footing, normal service is about to resume...

I vaguely remember them winning some Sherpa van type trophy at the Goldstone when we were on the slide and Ian Wright celebrating like he'd scored the winning goal in an FA cup final

1991 I think that was, I reacll the North goading him all game singing "Ian Wright, homosexual" and he got really irritated by it, then the shithead scored and Palace fans got on the pitch, they were in the South stand and the announcer screaming "PALACE FANS GET OFF THE PITCH"

I have watched Brighton V Palace games going back to the 70s when the rivalry started.

I think the 5-0 tonking under Coppell was the most eagerly anticipated fixture as we hadn't played them in ages. We were given the whole of the AW stand and brought thousands. The result was another matter.

When I first saw us play them they had a guy called Harkouk who kept scoring 20 yard winners or equalisers against us. - very annoying. We went up together in 1977 and 1979 but they beat us at their place both times (and drew at ouirs). If we can stay unbeaten against Bolton and Bris C then it could be the most important since then given the likely league positions. And a defeat won't be the end of the world either.

Pretty sure Harkouk is now in prison for supplying drugs!

Arguably, us beating Palace at Selhurst Park in 1981 was more important as it preserved our slender chance of staying up.

I assume the obvious two are Zaha and Murray? Either way yes probably:

Spironi
Williams
Parr

I didn't say we can't. I personally just don't think we will.

Feel free to bounce this thread two weeks today, I'll be more than happy to be proved wrong!

Er...
I'd have Kuszczak over Speroni any day.

And :ffsparr:

I don't recall any period when we "regularly" beat Palarse. Most of the time they seem to have been annoyingly in a higher division than us, and when we have played them I don't think the results have been particulaly positive - although reality might be quite different to my perception because I can't be bothered to actually check this.

So apart from the obvious two can we honestly say that we'd take any of their players over ours??

Why can't we go there and win? Someone has to

Speroni
Jedinak
Moritz
Williams
Zaha
Murray

Don't even bother trying to say that Bridcutt is better than Jedinak. Mile is without doubt the best defensive midfielder I've seen at Palace.

And no, I'm not looking forward to it. I have a sneaking suspicion that we'll totally outplay you and you'll get a flukey goal from a corner off Buckley's arse to win it.

I'm not too looking forward to this game tbh. Just have a horrible feeling we will stay unbeaten till we play you lot and the you'll do us by a penalty or something equally as horrific. I'm going 2-1 BHA. It's just written in the stars. I also think this is one negative to losing DF. He knew how much derbies meant to us, so hyped the team up for it; whereas IH (I worry) will not know until it's maybe too late and the players are on the pitch and both sets of fans are singing extra loud. We shall see but I am certainly not looking forward to Dec 1st

Agreed this was the most eagerly anticipated one for me, due to the length of time since we last played them (11 years possibly?)

Speroni ? Nowhere near as good as he use to be, he's average at this level now. I'd much rather TK,

Jedinak? :lolol: Bridcutt is class, one of the best defensive midfielders at this level, better than Jedinak.

Zaha? Probably will agree with this one BUT Buckley isn't far behind him ability wise at all.

Moritz? Vicente is the best player in the division when he's playing.

Murray? Can't really compare him to any of our strikers, he's a completely different to CMS and Barnes ???

I'm sure Palace would happily have, CMS, Buckley, Wayne Bridge, Bruno, TK, Bridcutt and El Abd any day.
