It's a good point about the queuing traffic on the sliproad (this with a 7000 crowd remember). Our (Mill Road) PnR bus ignored the queue and carried on the A27 as if towards Lewes before forcing itself in. It then drove up the left-hand side of the sliproad (whilst the stadium and Woodingdean traffic was on the right-hand lane) before cutting across again. As an aside when we got to the traffic lights and turned right into the stadium I was surprised at the amount of traffic that carried on towards Woodingdean. Hopefully they'll learn to avoid the area on matchdays.

Also as another point as Fiveways residents we used to walk to Withdean. However I was impressed with the PnR so rather than risk not getting on one of the full 'special' buses that are coming over Fiveways from Portslade, and rather than walking down (and back up!) the hill to the Vogue gyratory and picking up a 25 or similar, we might well use the PnR in future. Another space gone!

If the P&R buses dropped passengers off at the bus stop at the bottom of the slip road, this would enable people to use the underpass at the Sussex University entrance and get to the stadium much quicker. The buses would also be able to return to Mithras House / Mill Road much more quickly, by doing a U-turn over the flyover, without having to struggle into and out of the stadium coach park.

Great idea - it would take pressure off the stadium coach park.

How do you go about suggesting this to the bus company ?

Brovion it's not a bad walk to Falmer from fiveways.
Blimey, I don't think so. Withdean was probably the limit and I think Falmer is twice as far. We used to cut across the Stringer/Varndean/Balfour complex and go down Surrenden and it took about 20/25 minutes. I've toyed with the idea of walking over Hollingbury golf course and down through Wild Park to get to Falmer, but I don't fancy walking back up in the winter mud and pissing rain. I will do it at least once though to see what it's like and how long it takes.

When i saw the location of the 'superstore' i just assumed it was placed there strategically to be in most people's view when arriving at the Amex, and hence the P&R's would be dropping off at Sx Uni...

As a side issue, if i wanted to use normal buses instead of the P&R, does accessing the underpass after the game involve queuing up with everyone wanting to use trains or is it completely separate from the station?

I've done that walk to Withdean many times - it's pretty easy in the summer but not a walk when it's dark and wet. You don't want to go Wild Park though, walk to the end of the golf course, past the fort, and there's a path that takes you to Coldean, then cut across to Coldean Lane - quicker than the Wild Park route. I reckon 45 minutes from the start of golf course to the stadium.
