Is the most ridiculous self righteous question ever asked on Ask The Club?!

But with respect, that's just the price you pay for being out of the country isn't it?

Why should tickets be set aside for people living abroad over some other non-season ticket holder who fell out of the habit of following the club but living in Haywards Heath?

I agree with you!

What I was saying is that the problem lies with when tickets become available. Nothing can be done about it though because we won't know the fixtures until mid June.

The problem for us expats (for me anyway) is more to do with planning, than any belief that I have a devine right to attend the first game at Falmer.
What would be ideal, would be if tickets were to go on sale (to everyone) sometime next February/March. Unfortunately, we won't know exactly when that first game will be until mid-June with tickets not going on sale until a couple of weeks after that.
Not having a moan, just saying that's how it is.

I'm not really sure I see the problem to be honest. There will be 'general public' tickets for sale for the first game. I cannot see the first game being sold out to season ticket holders only. When tickets go on general sale make sure you are near a computer or phone at the required time, and have the required club membership if need be, and fingers crossed you will be able to buy one. This is as fair as it can get. And I'm sure there will be enough time between purchasing the ticket and the match for you to plan your trip.

If you want to GUARANTEE a seat at the first game, then the best way may actually be to buy a season ticket. I actually mean that too - even if you can only go to 2 or 3 games.

Figures are obviously all guesses;

Buy ST for £500. Go to Game 1 and maybe 2 others, sell the other 20, even if its for £15 a time. Its cost you £150 for the first game, but you have guaranteed it early.

I reckon some will be touted for a figure close to that anyway...

That's a good idea. I reckon there is a fair chance that you could attend the first game only and then sell on the season ticket for say 80% of the price.

The club will never release the ticket details early enough for you to plan flights etc, so the season ticket idea is the best I think.

Selling them match by match would be harder than in the past though, as it will be a single smart card, rather than individual paper tickets. It would need to be to people you knew, or via the official sell-back scheme via the club.

I think match by match wouldn't work. You would have to sell the whole season ticket for the rest of the season.

Of course they will.

I suspect if you are flying in from New Zealand to get the cheapest flight deals you need to be booking now. The ticket details for the first game at Falmer won't be until at best two months before the game (fixtures out mid June normally), so by that time you'd be screwed on flight prices I suspect.

He's in the same boat as many thousands of others who will want to be there.

His question is obviously designed to assess whether he can get some sort of preferential treatment.

The answer is no.

Just steel yourself for some sharp elbowing.

I would agree with that (and the likely price on eBay) but only if you don't have any family or friends that could get an application in for you. As for the travelling, you know today that the first home game will be on the the first weekend - so it won't take much to work out when that is. You could also try the NSC ticket exchange - but that may be slower than usual for that match. As a last resort you could also try getting in the away end - especially if our opening match is against a poorly-supported team.

I really cannot answer this question. Different airlines use different models to sell tickets. 2 months seems a reasonable amount of advance warning for a football match though.
