If you loved the Albion you wouldn't live abroad, simple.

I love the Albion but I am living in Germany because my parents somehow came to the frickin idea of doing so ...not my fault I had to go with them !
And I will defenstly be doing everything to get one of those tickets for the opening match at the Amex !!

But in my book, it is the one and only reason I could never move abroad. Just wouldn't be able to cope without my regular dose of the seagulls.

f*** moving country, I can't move from one city to another without considering my dose of the Albion, which is why i'm picking my Uni's so the train is no more than 3 hours! Bournemouth is looking good!

Giraffe is clearly "hardcore" but the fact is that the simple act of growing up, getting a job, finding love and having a family tend to pull most people in directions tangential to The Albion.

I found myself abroad for 8 years and I wouldn't change that but I did miss the Seagulls while I was there. I remember dancing around in my living room on my own at 3 in the morning listening to our last ditch playoff equaliser against Swindon on a ropey dial up stream. You couldn't escape the feeling that it might have felt a little better with company.

Getting back to the topic of the thread, we can all conjure up our old lists of times that we were there. I'll take the last Goldstone match, Hereford, playoff finals one and two, far too many shabby defeats at Gillingham etc etc. I'll certainly be looking to get to the opening game but I understand that I have no divine right to.

Playing the numbers game, our average attendance is 7,000 or thereabouts. There are going to be another 13,000 seats or so up for grabs come the big day (not allowing for trying to blag my way into the away end). I think the odds are generally good.

See y'all there!

I think 'general sales' will be very limited. I can see around 15,000 season tickets being bought for the Amex in the first season.

...but from my perspective and other expat supporters like me, the question is extremely valid as there are quite a few expats like myself who want to attend the game.

but what exactly is the question? apart from grammatically not using a "?", it's not very clear what he is asking for the expat community. is it a general query about availablity, is it a query about when tickets will go on sale and through what means? there is an inference that overseas ex-STH fans should be given some special accomodation, reserved tickets or some such.

maybe this could be a good question: will the club consider some limited advance sales to those abroad who need to make expensive travel plans?

I know that living 300 miles away and not having a season ticket means I've got less chance than I think is ideal to get a ticket for the 1st league match. But I'm going to do my damndest!!

But if I fail so be it. The stadium will be built and I know I'll get to go there soon. At least (hopefully) I'll still be alive and have the oppoertunity unlike quite a few fans over the past 14 years!

I suppose he could have said 'I believe there's a new stadium opening in Brighton next year - can you please reserve me 10 tickets for the first league game?' but I doubt he would have had the response he wanted. He's at least making them think before turning him down.

A fair point and one I hadn't really thought of. I had expected season ticket sales to rise but will they really triple? If they do then it will be great for the club.

I could probably afford a season ticket but shifts would mean me missing more than half the matches so I shall just have to take my chances. Not to worry. If it's not the first game then it won't be too long after.

sounds like someone who really doesn't want to miss out on the first game at Falmer.

Don't get why you need to have a go really?
it's not a "look at me" post but it's not a reasonable question at all. It is, In fact, breathtakingly presumptuous.

Why should anyone at the club be concerned about making the day special for someone who has chosen to move away? He's not the future of the club, and has done nothing whatsoever to warrant having tickets held back on his behalf. I'm actually amazed that such a question was asked.

I hope Insider replies with a firm NO and suggests he finds a friend locally to buy a ticket on his behalf. Like everybody else who doesn't live abroad.

Many Albion fans living abroad would like to attened the 1st game at Falmer next season. I myself have been following the Albion since 1971 and was a season ticket holder with my sons at Withdean until moving to Australia 3 years ago. Over the last 40 years I have not missed any of the big games,
2 FA Cup games, 2 play off finals the last game at the Goldstone the 1st game against Arsenal in the old Div 1 and so on. I'm saving hard for us all to come back for that day at Falmer, but am wondering what is going to be the likley hood of being able to get tickets. Through the power of the internet and fans I know in various places around the world there could be as many as 1000 fans living abroad wanting to attened the game.
Look forward to your response.

If you have a spurs and villa stub, then you are a cert for a ticket!

Fair play! I recall being a student and choosing where to go on the same basis, many moons ago.

Get a life, please.

I have a life thank you very much and a very fine one it is too. Kids, wife, Albion in that order, and I regularly miss Albion matches for family related events. Not wanting to live abroad does not mean I don't have a life

The problem for us expats (for me anyway) is more to do with planning, than any belief that I have a devine right to attend the first game at Falmer.
What would be ideal, would be if tickets were to go on sale (to everyone) sometime next February/March. Unfortunately, we won't know exactly when that first game will be until mid-June with tickets not going on sale until a couple of weeks after that.
Not having a moan, just saying that's how it is.

But with respect, that's just the price you pay for being out of the country isn't it?

Why should tickets be set aside for people living abroad over some other non-season ticket holder who fell out of the habit of following the club but living in Haywards Heath?
