For every England match I buy four tickets. 75% of the the time I go with mates but because I bought the England v Hungary tickets back in April/May I didn't consider the fact that I was going to be on holiday.

Now normally if I can't go this isn't a problem as I know loads of people who will take them off me for close to face value. This time however completely nothing from mates etc so I resorted to posting on here. A few sniffs but I still have the tickets.

Now before anyone shouts spam, I am genuinely shocked. I'm selling them for the same price as a seat at Withdean, and regardless of what you say about England's performance at the world cup, it is still a high level of football at the best stadium in the country and all for £20 per seat.

So am I the only moron that still supports his country??:vuvueng:

The Hungary game is nothing more than another fixture to help service the Wembley debt. England are absolutely shit, or at best, vastly overrated. Why would anybody want to spend good money watching crap rusty players out of season in a pointless friendly? The millionaires trotting out onto the pitch have just let us down badly again.

In all honesty, probably YES. The World Cup was a f***ing SHAMBLES. We're used to spectacular failures, but this time there was just nothing.

I think there is now a real split between the public and the team. The catalyst of which being Rooney gobbing off at the cameras about the fans booing. Yes you twat, they paid what you earn in a DAY to be there and you play like c*nts.

I guess, from a personal point of view, the answer it 'yes'.

For the first time ever this year, when we got dumped out of the world cup - I wasn't really that upset. With the current players, I am constantly stuck in a quandry of being hugely patriotic and yet disliking each (or vast majority) of the players hugely enough to not care if we get beaten. It sounds bizarre but I would prefer a less talented team that gave 100% to the cause and seemed to take each England match as a matter of life and death than the current group of players who never ever seem to really care that much.

Watching the Italia '90 documentary on TV the other day really brought it home to me. To those guys, playing for their country meant everything - they would put everything on the line to try and get a result - I just don't see that now. Germany's 4th goal is a perfect example. Yes - Barry got absolutely done for pace and he should never have been that far forward in the first place BUT at least he was trying (same for Terry who, although it looked like he was running backwards, was trying to get back as if his life depended on it). However, look at every other player in the team - they didn't even bother trying to get back. Joe Cole - he'd been on the pitch for about 5 minutes and he didn't even attempt to track back.

Anyway this is now just a ramble. Basically if Capello picked a group of players who you felt cared as much about this country as we do, I'd be much more likely to want to watch them and support them.

I agree completely with everything that everyone has said and I totally agree, however the only way it will change is to show everyone how much it matters to the country. I fear that the danger of pretending not to care will lead to a genuine second rate England, much like the way Eurovision has gone now!!

Aren't Italy playing the Ivory Coast in London that night? Not that they were any better, but for something different, I'd go to that.

I was planning on going so i sounded out my usual mates i go with to see if they were interested but no one wants to come. I don't know how much of it is disillusionment with the team or the quality of the opposition but its going to be embarrasing to see England play in front of a half empty stadium.

I really don't think it will be half empty. Because they sold the tickets back in April/May they must have sold quite a lot then I would think. It's also school holidays so a good time to take kids to an England game with no school the next day.

And to people who say "this will show them", I really don't think it will make a difference. The players couldn't give a shit how many fans are there. The FA might, but there is nothing they can do to sort this mess out as the premiership has all the power. The only way it will ever really change is if the premiership clubs come to some agreement to help the national team, similar although not as radical as the England cricket team.

It won't be an empty Wembley. No way. Would be surprised if it was less than 50,000. The fans at an England game matter to the FA but they don't matter to the premiership. And it is the premiership clubs that need to change as they hold all of the power. Empty stadiums for the first game of the new season would definitely make a difference but it just isn't going to happen as premiership fans don't give a shit about England. England's fan base is predominantly made up of fans from outside the premiership.

The thing is, the 'commitment' to the England team we're looking for from the PL and their clubs is a very strong moral argument, but not a financial one, and that's all they are interested in. Even they realise that some minor kind of PR effort is required at the moment, because people see their model as damaging the national side's chances.

If all the clubs were owned by English concerns, and managed by English managers (and I'm not necessarily advocating that, just stating a fact), they would feel more pressure to buy and promote young English talent to help the national team alongside their own club ambitions. But Glazers/Abramovich/Wenger - forget it. I think Capello may start dipping in to the Championship soon, even if they are top-flight players on loan there. Man Utd's Tom Cleverly was superb at Watford last season.

What it really needs is an England team in the Premiership. FA buy Aston Villa, and just promote English players into the team. After a while the club would be THE TEAM to go to if you are an English young talent. They would all be playing together week in week out and off we go kings of the world in ten years.

Problem is the FA can't buy Aston Villa!
