I doubt many people on here will know about this one, but I'm sure most will know the band.

My nomination is Big Country - Come Up Screaming

Recorded at Barrowlands, Scotland. It was their last gig in their homeland before singer/guitarist Stuart Adamson committed suicide a year or two later. Adamson, and in fact the whole band are HUGELY underrated imo. Most people on here will only know of their mainstream success in the 80's, with their trademark 'celtic' sound. In actual fact, they got better with age, and produced their best material after the limelight had gone.
This fantastic concert just goes to prove it. They were fantastic live. This is HIGHLY reccommended.

I'm trying to think of a finer live album but all my other favourites don't even come close:

Smiths - Rank
Depeche Mode - 101
Nick Cave at the Albert Hall
Beach Boys live in London
Elvis in the 69 vegas comeback tour

We haven't had a Friday music debate for ages. What do you peeps think is the best live album?

Elvis was 68 btw.

Don't see any mentions of "Stupidity" by Dr Feelgood. Oh how I would have loved to have seen the original Feelgoods live.

For all you "Lizzy" fans there is a new live album out - "Still Dangerous" - which I think is from a year or so before "Live and Dangerous" and is free of overdubs. Not that I mind too much as I saw them live at the "Centre" and they almost certainly didn't have any overdubs then!

'Live and Dangerous' by Thin Lizzy is always up there in the polls- but never heard it, anyone?

I prefer live albums and this was one of my favourites, until the recent release of "Still Dangerous" which is a non overdubbed and more raw version. Bloomin marvellous.

Joe Bonamassa's From Nowhere in Particular is my favourite recent live album.

But don't make your mind up until you have heard One More From The Road from the unbelieveably brilliant live band Lynyrd Skynyrd

And on another completely different note, to pre-empt what is to come, yes Live and Dangerous is a great album, but its "Live" credentials are dubious.[/QUOTE]

Sorry but Lizzy's Live & Dangerous IS the greatest live album. Over the years any detractors only ever been able to bitch about the overdub. Let's get real on the reality that virtually every live album will get touched up in the studio. L&D is to many the perfect blend of great songs and the 'lords of rock' Marshall & Gibson.

I thought the Stranglers went pear shaped after the Raven album and of course have only limped along since Cornwalls departure.
