[Football] Is it OK to support more than one team?

I've been a Brighton fan since I went to my first game at the Goldstone aged 6. I grew up in Mile Oak in the 70's/80's.

When they lose I feel depressed and don't watch the game on MOTD, or other highlights. I always thought you could only support one team.

I am also a season tiicket for Worthing who are my local non league team having moved there 20 years ago.

I've always rationalised it that it was OK to support Worthing as well because they are non league therefore don't clash.

I've come to the realisation that I might also like West Ham. Members of my family are West Ham fans so there is a connection there.

Am I just having a football midlife crisis?

Am I doomed to be cast into the pits of hell?

Is it OK to support more than one team?

Of course, I think the unwritten rule is a local team, preferably non-league, is absolutely fine and actively encouraged. I go to Seaford games quite often as it’s about 5 minutes from my house, always sure to buy a pint or two (!) to help my local club (that’s why, honest!).

I think the only thing people have issues with are people like season ticket holders who have their tickets specifically to see “their team” (Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool, Man Utd). Despite what some claim, this is fairly common and yes, does contribute to a flat atmosphere when we’re some fans second team.

Thankfully the club are now aware of these loopholes and have rules about mandatory in-person attendance, which unbelievably some people are complaining about.

The most curious thing..
West Ham makes me feel like I have stepped in something squishy and rather unpleasant.

liking is not supporting a team. i've liked many teams for various reasons over the years, look out for their score, prefer them to do well over others. but i only actually care about the results for BHA. that's the difference imo.

Always a dilemma. In the 70s many teens supported a top club (United, Leeds, Chelsea, you know) and the Albion. They would never play each other would they, so it didn’t matter. You would also support Rangers or Celtic.

Should you continue to support your “top” club or ditch them now we’re in the big league? What defines loyalty?

There is no game that can be played that I'm not supporting one team in.*
Doesn't mean I'm a supporter of them though.

*It occurs to me that should two teams be playing each other and a draw is highly beneficial for Brighton I wouldn't be supporting either side but if one team had to win I'd still have a preference who it was.
