I wouldn't say that one person saying they were told something by an ex club employee is particularly conclusive evidence. Maybe it is naive but why can't we just trust the club to do the right thing. Maybe Stephenson genuinely couldn't settle in the area or he decided the club wasn't right for him. Why is there the need to come up with conspiracy theories and apparently everyone at the club being in conflict (if you believe El Presidente)?

Whoa there Finchley old chap. All I was saying is that some people did raise concerns (and this is an example I found through a very quick search) at the time about the potential for conflict between Gus and Stephenson. No conspiracy theory - no agenda - merely supplying an answer to House Your Seagull who asked me where I had heard there may have been wrinkles before the guy even joined. And as it happens ...... SuperPhil may have been right because Stephenson has gone in a few months.

I completely trust the club to do the right thing - I also feel that we have grown from a virtual non-league set-up to a Premiership-level set up in less than two years and funded broadly by one man, and that will inevitably bring tensions/growing pains.

I don't know how people are getting these ideas.

The club is a hive of activity, the atmosphere is a very healthy one of constant business and with smiles attached.
I sincerely doubt there'd be any serious unrest or undesirable appointments.

As for someone leaving - it's a bigger company now, people come and go from businesses all the time.
Storytelling and conjecture about possible discontent behind the scenes amounts to gossip. And we don't gossip now, do we?

I didn't particularly mean you although you did say about it being made clear that Gus wasn't behind Stephenson's appointment and I don't necessarily think one quote from a poster on here is proof. To be honest, I just get fed up with the general assumption that something must be wrong (and that isn't aimed at you as you are pretty sensible). Why people can't just enjoy the fact we are doing so well and not make up conspiracy theories is beyond me.

Quite a few backroom people seem to be leaving the club at the moment

Stephenson, .... who else? one person leaving is hardly a crisis.

life-presidents not talking to CEOs or chairman is not really an issue, even if true. imagine this sort of rumour could come from "they haven't spoken in weeks" based on them not having any need to. its an non-executive, honorary role isnt it?

Everyone must be thrilled with the promotion and the Amex. But it's pretty tedious if people keep saying that. So what we're left with is criticism, gripes, rumours and inference - the stuff of NSC really (along with food, music, pretty laydees etc).

Not sure there is ageneral assumption from people is that something must be wrong - but in this case it does look like tensions were flagged early on. That's all. I'm putting this down to growing pains. Nothing more.

PS Nice to be regarded as pretty sensible :)

Taken from the the TSLR link on page 1:

14 April 2010 - Club appoints Zigor Aranalde as Chief Scout.
30 December 2010 - Club announces that John Stephenson will join as Head of Football Operations.
21 June 2011 - Zigor Aranalde quits Albion - Chief Scout post remains empty
09 August 2011 - Club relieve Steve Brown and David Jupp of duties as senior Youth Team coaches as part of 'on-going restructuring of the youth development department'. Ken Brown signs off statement.
11 August 2011 - Seagulls.co.uk release short statement announcing the departure of John Stephenson

All in roughly the same area of the business. Seems to indicate some kind of grit in the shoe?

As long as Bloom and Poyet continue to be bosom buddies, the rest can do one.

I think we all know about Dick's fine efforts to get the club where it is. However his relationship with then-Birmingham City board members could have seen us being owned or shared by them.

I like how it turned out in the end, personally. I don't know if we'd have got Gus on board with Gold and Sullivan - we'd probably have Sam Allardyce in the dugout of a less 'appointed' ground that would have had more problems about preparations and services than ours has now.

I dont think there is anything to get worried about. As businesses grow then dynamics change. All of the things stated by el pres are not unusual in even our recent history.

I would sincerly hope that Dick Knight is not stirring the shit behind the scences,,,he has had his day. He should just sit back and watch the football and take the freebies. If I was Tony Bloom I would get a bit pissed off as well if Knight is walking around largeing it up as if he is still in charge. Knight has had a lot of airtime the last few weeks, perhaps more so than Bloom. Yes we all know Knight done his bit over the years but without Bloom we would be f***ed and there would be no stadium just a building site.

Knight just cant stay out of the limelight. He has no shares,no money in the club now(not that he ever did) Just leave the running of the club to people with money and people that keep their mouths shut and dont let the lickers have scraps from the table.

Dick Knight has nothing to do with this - Ernest hates him and takes every opportunity to slag the man off.

Ther is no evidence that he is larging it up and unless he is being accused of having employed stephenson then it just seems that kevtherev and vulture are grasping 2 and 2 and making 421
