I thought it was long established that it's only the 'hey-wow' students from some Godawful provincial backwater who feel they've found *cough* utopia that have the disappearing up the arsehole issues.

For us Brightonians, it's just a place - a very nice place, admittedly - to live.

Thank you for that....I think that this particular 'issue' is perhaps rather more widespread than you would believe!:)

Not all of Brighton is nice, open your eyes man, look around!

But overall it is a damn site nicer than Bradford, Oldham, Leicester, Grimsby, Stoke, Middleborough, Tower Hamlets, Croydon etc etc.

Brighton and Hove are not perfect but I will always choose to live within 15 miles as long as I live in the UK.

I haven't bothered to read this thread but in my opinion, the answer is NO

Come back when you have something meaningful to say.

Alan have you walked along the New England Road end of Providence Place recently? Or along Grand Parade or York Place? Have you seen the decay in Bevendean or the social exclusion in Moulsecoomb. Articles such as this almost push the established real Brightonian further out of town and excludes them generally from the heritage of their home town. Some people didn't have the benefits of our 'golden generation' and for them Brighton is fast becoming an unrecognizable place to be.

You do talk some utter shit at times.

No-one has EVER excluded me from the heritage of my home town. If you feel excluded, it's because you want to be.

What a surprise a TLO and HB&B spackfest.

You two are really retarded.

Fightfightfight!

Well personally, having visited every large town and city in Scotland and most in England and Wales, I can say with some confidence that nowhere else come close to comparison in terms of uniqueness, friendliness, safeness, tolerance and nights out (all together, I mean) though other cities no-doubt excel in one or two of these factors, e.g. Newcastle for friendliness and nights out.

This coming from a Guardian reader:clap2:

tbh I find it hard to take a place seriously when it keeps changing the names of so many of its pubs. Either it's a colony or is unsure of its actual identity

This is one of my PET hates, but I think everywhere does it. E.g. The lansdown-> star -> lansdown in Lewes or the Prince Albert -> Bridge -> cock and bull in Uckfield.

i'm REALLY growing to hate the term "it's VERY brighton" or "that's SO brighton"

fucks sake, what does it even MEAN?!

Do you need telling? If you need an example you could use this term when describing the failed Chelsea Barracks redevelopment. Modern things not getting built...that is SO Brighton.

it comes to every town eventually, soon you will have immigrants sleeping all over the pavillion lawn, just for the chance to work in your flash, new restaurants and newly fitted out tapas bars, try and wiggle yourselves some financial gain out of it all somehow ,it would appear Old Brightonium has been "found" :D

....immigrants.....the Glaswegian smack heads have been doing all of the above for years.

Too many beardy sandal wearers in Lewes - and I'm not too keen on the blokes either.

Everyone is Lewes is either a wizard, a lecturer or a council worker. And they all drink real ale.
