Is Adam Virgo undroppable?

Just wondering what people's views are, but is Adams afraid to drop Virgo? The problem as I see it, is that he signed him as a defender who could play up front, but now he can't really justify playing him in either position. Hawkins has been our best defender this year, Elphick was our best defender last year, and Lynch is our most gifted centre half so how can he play Virgs there ahead of any of them?

Up front, I still can't see a reason to justify dropping either Murray or Forster. As such, he shoehorns Virgo into a position he is completely unsuited to. The problem is that Virgo's signing was seen as the return of the prodigal son etc etc, and Virgo turned down Championship clubs to join us, so Adams feels he has to find a place for him. Unfortunately, it seems to be really damaging the side at the moment.

Why can you not see a reason for dropping Murray? He contributed nothing yesterday (nor in any one of 4 other games I've seen this season). Virgo's contribution yesterday was better than most others: he did at least switch the play a few times and made some good passes. That said, I would rather see him up front, holding up the ball and making a nuisance of himself. Ricketts did precisely this job for Walsall to good effect yesterday.

No player is undroppable except for:

- Murray and Forster as we have absolutely no cover
- Ditto Kuipers
- Virgo, because Adams said so after Crewe

However, the following are clearly unplayable in Adams eyes:

- Livermore, Fraser and Loft because we have to accomodate Virgo in midfield
- Robinson - Gary Hart gets in ahead of him
- Lynch - Because it appears there has been some kind of spat
- Dixon - as signing him was clearly a major mistake

Because Murray is a quality player, and is not getting any service.

Virgo is completely droppable. He is a good player, he is not the best player in the sqaud in ANY position on the pitch, but is tremendous cover when someone does get injured.

Certainly not a midfielder, probably not a striker, so defence is where he should play, but is he better than Whing at right back, I think not, and is he better than Elphick, Hawkins, El Abd, Lynch at centre back, I dont think so either

My point was: Is Adams unwilling to drop him (because of the high profile nature of his signing etc etc) ? If not, why is he playing him in centre midfield? Is Virgo really our best option there?

Why Micky feels Virgo is undroppable is beyond me. Virgo cannot play centre midfield, I think people are blinkered because he scored 2 goals. But the game passes him by on a regular basis when he plays in midfield.

Worryingly Virgo has scored our one and only goal in open play from central midfield in the whole of 2008, but does that mean he should play everygame, i dont think so.

Virgo upfront surely wont work, Virgo in midfield has been bordering disaster, so why pick him. The back 4 has been pretty solid apart from Scunthorpe, so drop him, Its not like he cost us any money.

Tommy Fraser gets stick from fans but he is clearly a great central midfielder and produced the best central midfielder performance of this season yesterday.

To be honest as a ball winning central midfileder I have no problem with Virgo playing in midfiled. If he is to play in midfiled though he needs a creative player alongside him.

Why not try a new formation which would allow virgo to be accomodated, for example 5-3-2 or 4-3-3. Surely nothing can be worse than the way we are currently playing?

He should be on the bench, not the best centre back, midfielder or forward but good cover for injuries

I bet there is some sort of unwritten agreement that Virgo is guaranteed a starting place. f*** knows why because he's been average at best since leaving the club a few years back. Maybe Adams just needs an allie in another average jobbing journeyman riding off the back of a very successful past at this club.

I f***ing knew this would happen when Adams was reappointed.

there is no way virgs is a better right back than whingy...he's good cover there in a position we had no cover in really last season which was why el abd kept getting played there but whingy is cleaarly the best full back at the club.
