Rumours of March 7th floating about. Faster processor and retina display seem to be the common rumours.

I would expect an early march announcement to be released a week later in the US and two weeks later in Europe.

Announcement widely expected in the first week of March. All rumours have Foxconn pumping the things out in massive volume for a while now ready to hit the shelves soon.

I bet it'll be over-priced.

Of all the Apple products, the iPad is probably the one that 'over-priced' is the most inaccurate about, as witnessed by Samsung et al struggling to compete on price which is part of the reason Apple have cleaned up in tablets to date. They use their mahoosive cash pile to forward buy components in massive volume in a way almost nobody else can, enabling them to be very keen on price.

Just got an iPad 2 so this would annoy me :glare:

Slightly unfortunate - the Apple product cycle is quite regular and iPad 3 was always very likely around now. That said, I've noticed they've been marketing iPad 2 quite heavily of late, so there could be a lot of people going "oh, great..." in a few weeks time.

I did see one rumour to suggest that they may run Ipad 2 as the budget offering and ipad 3 as the premium offering such as they do with the iphones. That may be why they are still marketing the 2 so much.

Agreed. With Amazon expected to bring a 10" Kindle Fire to market this year, Apple will want to have a 'value' product to compete against that.

.... Or just shifting stock before everyone wants the new one ??

this is most likely. the new one will be £399 for cheapest and ipad 2 will then be £299 for cheapest. Just like the ipad 1 was when the 2 came out. then once all stock is sold they wont even bother making anymore.

Announcement widely expected in the first week of March.

Can you please ensure that NSC is shut down during the announcement, so that we can all focus on this most important time, I personally don't want anything taking my attention away from all things Apple !
