The Internet for me.

I remember being pleased with a modem, 56k speed I think it was and paying 50p a minute to BT for access to BBS info back in the day. My phone bills were horrendous. Also, if someone picked the phone extension up they cut you off the Internet!

Now I'm on a 200MB connection!! Completely over the top speed for what I need!

But access to unlimited information on every subject, ever!, amazing.

If nothing else it has stopped the Encyclopaedia Britannica salesman from knocking the door every month trying to flog their wares!

Nowadays it's different internet providers trying to entice you, same difference!

Internet. I would happily bin my phone tomorrow if I could. I actually enjoy the internet, my phone is a begrudged necessity of modern life.

Neither to be honest. I have never really embraced the digital age, someone once told me that l would have been at my happiest if had lived in Victorian times, they are probably right.

By the way Disraeli is still Prime Minister isn't he?

Smart phone. To have the functionality my phone has I'd have to be carrying a camera, photo album, address book, A-Z, calculator, computer & modem, walkman, huge tape collection, bank book, train timetable, bus timetable, radio, etc etc etc.

Internet for me. Opens up my access to information for many purposes, crossword answers, settling arguments over who what or where. Also shopping from the comfort of my front room and yes I'm one of those people who get info on items from High Street stores then goes home and buys on Amazon.
Mobiles are handy but you need a constant signal for them to be at their best, something that's in short supply here in the North East.

I'll see your 56k and raise (lower?) you a 1200/75 Prestel connection in 1987.

Internet......
I remember being in Brasil, in the early nineties when we were among the first to get it. This guy was trying to sell me domain names, which, to me seemed crazy at the time. Why on earth would I want LiverpoolFC.com, manutd.com,bhafc.com, realmadrid.com etc...
He told me all I needed to do was register and pay about US100 a year to maintain them. They would be worth millions when the internet caught on...
Obviously I said it was all rubbish and I’ll stick with the basic.....
