Martial came off injured today. Quite possible United will be without Rashford, Greenwood, Martial and Cavani for our game. Alternatively they are 'injured' (being rested).

After England cruised past San Marino, a powerhouse of European football, I'll be interested to see how we fair against the Norman Wisdom celebrity 11, with Harry Kane falling over and saying ooh Mr Southgate :lolol:

You'll probably win in the end but very few teams go to Tirana and just walk home with the victory... its not San Marino.

England shouldn't have to demean themselves by playing teams like Albania.

Much better since the first 40 but still not great. Normal bizarre refereeing, notably Walker's booking. Oh, and Kane's. Effing ridiculous.

QUIZ QUESTION (with help of wiki)

NO GOOGLING. NAME THE PLAYER.

“He made his debut for England in the February 1995 friendly away match against the Republic of Ireland which was abandoned after only 27 minutes because of rioting English fans...
He ended his playing days where he began, with Dagenham & Redbridge in the 2004–05 season and then coached the side during the week. He also worked for Brighton & Hove Albion part-time on a consultancy basis.”

I've read about this in The Guardians "The Knowledge" column... its Wayne (?) Barton IIRC.

Georgia - Spain 1-1 with five or so minutes to go. Spain dropping points against Greece & now possibly Georgia is good stuff from a Swedish perspective...

Have to say I was very impressed by Georgia a couple of days ago, had some really dangerous counters against Sweden and defended well for 90 minutes. Willy Sagnol with the coaching magic. Not surprised it seems they're getting a point tonight - unfortunately it might decrease the chance of seeing Rob Sanchez against Kosovo.

Is it me - the commentary from Sam Matterface and the game itself, seems so slow, uninspiring, stop-start and boring?

Genuinely, I enjoy watching the Albion far more.

[I’m not usually a club over country football fan].

I am very much club over country but like most people, I will admit I hypocritically get excited about the major tournaments.

You are right though, this is very dull like most England games outside of major tournaments.

I think the uninspiring football is to be expected at international football though when the players and coaches get so little time together. The modern football we generally see domestically and at the Albion is so much much more about systems and teams are like machines as the coaches have plenty of time to drill them.

At international level they generally can’t get them playing like that unless it’s like Germany a few years ago where most of the players were at Bayern or Spain before that when most were at Barca.

The Portugal team that won in 2016 and France team that won in 2018 will be fairly typical of the international sides that will do well these days - not exciting or fluid, difficult to beat and score against and then relying on talented individual players to grab the goals.
