All you need to get yourself a few years of injury problems is to f*** up your periodisation and football conditioning for 6-12 months. Turning a body ready for PL takes time, ruining it doesn't.

In February 2023 we we're bottom of the season injury list after a few years of having above average injuries.

Then for one reason or another, quite possibly related to Roberto and in this particular regard even more so his staff, we collapsed in this area and its going to take time to know/assume that we're doing the right things.

We could be doing all the right things right now without it looking much different in the treatment room. If we're in a similar situation next year I'm going to be concerned about the persistent larger-than-normal injury list but as it stands I think we need to give the manager, physio coach and doctors more time to adress possible issues.
I know you don't like the bloke but blaming Roberto and his staff when a huge chunk of the injuries we've had this season have been to Minteh, Weiffer, Ferdi and O'Riley is just madness, they haven't worked with them.

Of the others injured, Welbeck has a career of injuries, Milner is 38, and Webster was struggling under Potter. That leaves Veltman (nearly 33) and youngsters Ferguson and Hinsh. Even you acknowledged yourself that Welbeck was playing a lot of football pre injury.

I don't know what the answer is, I agree they all need time to work it out, but to shoehorn blame to the previous regime is just pathetic.

With the so called best medical backroom team money can buy, why did it take 9 weeks for someone to decide surgery was needed, surely that decision should have been made weeks ago.

My thoughts exactly. You'd think about 8 -9 weeks recovery time which means he'd be back training and in contention now

My own minor experience of sporting injuries (too much swimming) is that the expert advice is to do everything you can to avoid surgery. I had a couple of years struggling with rotator cuff problems, which were eventually resolved via physio. It could easily have been the same with Ferdi - except in his case the physio hasn't worked.

Along with Joao and Matt being injured by dangerous tackles, Danny was also injured by a tackle from Downes in the Southampton match, who raked his boot onto Danny’s achilles from behind to prevent a breakaway. It caused the problem with his ankle that was initially managed with painkillers but the medical team then stood him down for the recent run of “easy” matches. As he was key to a lot of our great play and goals up until then this thread and a lot of others would be generating a lot less heat if he’d been available. No-one can legislate for thuggish tackles, Danny has an unwarranted reputation for being injury prone if you look at his playing stats for the last three seasons.

I'm sure this is giving some details on his injury, if only I could read it?!
