Your post reminded me that the ticket scanner was utter shite. It turned red for what seemed like an age when the person in front walked in and enforced a ticket wiggle before it read anything when you finally got to it. Probably developed by the Post office lads.

I agree with the rest of your post though. Could have been a lot worse. The coaches also took a direct route back to the Terminal and didn't go via Verona ala Marseille.
There was nothing wrong with the scanner.
The thing had a red cross which needed to be aligned across the QR code.

Pretty sure the fella in front of me would have had me there till halftime if I hadn't lined it up for him.

On this basis are we hoping a couple of thiers also take a scalpel up the arse to even the score?
I’m not sure two wrongs make a right when it comes to our treatment of continental fans.
At the end of this campaign I’ll be happy that we’ve set a standard and treated people the way we’d like to be treated.
If these clubs have vermin fans, old bill that treat you like shit and over the top stewards all with the blessing of the club, that’s on them. Palace fans dream of shit like that, not me, I’m too old.
I travelled with someone with a medical condition, details of which I’m not going to go into on here.

Safe to say the behaviour of some of the stewards and in particular the police was outrageous.

Sure, two wrongs don’t make a right, and I would normally want to treat people how I would want to be treated but……

The Italians have learnt nothing.

Having been in Turin in 1980 for the infamous ‘teargas in Turin’ with England, and at Italia 90 too, they’ll continue to act like ***** until they get called out.

My brother and his friend were both made to remove their shoes after being frisked the 2nd time, they were wearing adidas trainers. Might of been random selection, might be if they felt something.
My wife, 11 yr old daughter and 14 yr old son all had to remove shoes. My 17yr old and I didn't.

The security guard (1st one) was so thorough i thought she had removed something!

Im not complaining though on any count

Sorry, they made your 11 year old daughter remove her shoes and you’re not complaining?

If you could read that again there is NO bus transfer, they can use any transport service. There were scuffles at Brighton station against Ajax, I hope there won’t be any trouble, I’ll be travelling up early. The police will do their job I hope.
Jackalbion has called for calm ahead of Thursdays game. We must honour these wishes and his dissolvable stitches.

Agree. That's outrageous. It's a football match where, let's be honest, it's the Rome fans who are likely to be the ones causing serious trouble anyway. It did feel at times like we were maximum security prisoners being transferred between jails. Luckily on the 3 Euro trips I did, the whole experience just made the treatment we got as supporters bearable. I'm quite pleased that we are trying to treat Roma fans as adults but I hope it doesn't backfire.

What does a Balkham actually do? I keep seeing his/her name on various threads, this far I've gleened that they love a holiday, hide in cupboards, fix washing machines from the inside, and can disappear in a flash at the first sign of any handbags,if he's a U21 left back why hasn't he started a game yet.
It acts as the main conduit route for moving Afghan produced heroin into Europe.

No, i knew what to expect and I do know that in Italy it is common for groups to use women and children to smuggle things in to the stadium.

Seems crazy not to provide a K&Q bus transfer, an arrangement which appears to have worked very well for the previous euro games.

There's also an odd bit at the end of the AS Roma Info that says 'Those who are part of organized buses will depart from the stadium on their own buses'. Tho I guess that might just be something the club omitted to remove from the info given to previous visiting clubs

Ah, that explains why @Papa Lazarou was the only member of our group asked to remove his shoes.

Possibly privately hired buses/coaches which will be parked up in the coach park?

Is it though ?

Given the Marseille fans totally trashed the buses used for their game I suspect no company wants to provide them

To them we are just English fans that rampaged across Europe in the 80’s and 90’s.

Some of the comments on here saying we should have been treated differently are as we are a nice, friendly club have been incredibly naive. They are not going to differentiate between English clubs or the English national team.

My understanding was they totally trashed them and the company advised the club they would not provide the service back

The one we went through took about 30 seconds between each time someone scanned a ticket (though I've seen someone post on NSC that this was controlled by stewards to slow down the rate at which we got through).
