Stumps on day two 155/6. What a great test match, England just edging ahead but you get the feeling there could be a few more ebbs and flows to come yet. Roll on tomorrow.

My prediction:

India all out with England having a 90 run lead.

England spun out for 120

India win by 5 wickets possibly on Day 4
In a reasonably low scoring match, getting Harbejan out early might make all the difference. He has the ability to club the ball around and quickly get the scoreboard ticking over.

I think England would be happy to restrict them to around 250, giving a lead of 60-70. From that position, I wouldn't want to call the outcome given that their batting is far more consistent than ours. Unlike England, India certainly won't fall apart in their second innings...

I would go along with that, and with what THRK has said to a certain extent, although I think it'll be closer than 5 wickets.
This a great example of the beauty of test match cricket, the game is on a knife edge and a decent batting or bowling performance either way could swing it for either team. It will all depend on what total we set them, if it's 300 then we're in the driving seat, if it's 200 then they're in the driving seat. Obviously the cheaper we get them out tomorrow the better. Whatever happens, it's sure to be exciting stuff :clap:

I've watched England for a long time.....I was looking at those six batsmen we got out today and the way we played the spinners so tentatively in the first innings. I am delighted with the score so far, but......I hope we win.

Just to tidy up Law 13 for you all (The follow-on)

1. Lead on first innings
(a) In a two innings match of 5 days or more, the side which bat first and leads by at least 200 runs shall have the option of requiring the other side to follow their innings.
(b) The same option shall be available in two innings matches of shorter duration with the minimum required leads as follows:
(i) 150 runs in a match of 3 or 4 days;
(ii) 100 runs in a 2-day match;
(iii) 75 runs in a 1-day match

3. First day's play lost
If no play takes place on the first day of a match of more than one day's duration, 1 above shall apply in accordance with the number of days remaining from the actual start of the match. The day on which play first commences shall count as a whole day for this purpose, irrespective of the time at which play starts. Play will have taken place as soon as, after the call of Play, the first over has started.

So if play starts on day 1 of a test and no play is possible on day 2 and day 3, for the follow-on Law, it is still a 5 day game. Alternatively, in a 3-day game (this happened with Shropshire's minor counties game against Cornwall last year) when there is no play on day 1 or day 2, the follow-on law for a 1-day game applies (i.e. 75 run lead).

Sorted ?
