With about an hour left on day 3 it's difficult to see anything other than a draw here now.

Funky field for Broad to Vijay.. bowling reverse swinging in-duckers, Bairstow standing up, two short mid-wickets on the drive, one at cow corner... I guess you have to try anything at this stage?

India bat all day tomorrow with an accelerating run rate then declarre mid morning Day 5 with a lead of 150. England do an impression of rabbits in the headlights against sharp spin and bounce and are bundled out for 143 with 20 minutes to play.

Alternatively India just bat and bat and bat to tire the England bowlers and look to win the toss for the 2nd test

Those 2 late wickets must have given England a glimmer of hope. Two or three quick ones in the first hour tomorrow morning and who knows.........

To have any chance England will have to bowl India out by, say, half an hour after lunch and have a lead of 100+.

If they can end Day 4 up by 250 with enough wickets left for a 45 minutes thrash on Day 5 then they can have a good go at the Indian batsmen. Even if they don't win they'll have a chance to gain the psychological upper hand in the series.

996-19 in the game so far. Who will hit the 1,000th run India or England.
Great perseverance from England. Stuck in well for 12-1 outsiders in a two horse series.

Zillions of runs here, but in the other test match being played currently, I see Australia were sadly all out for just 85 against South Africa in Hobart with South Africa 171/5 in reply at stumps on day 1.

England have put in a good disciplined bowling performance.

I see Austrialia were bowled out for 83 with Smith scoring 48no! Assuming they lose - SA were 171 /5 at end of play - this will be their 5 defeat on the trot. Oh dear, how sad, never mind.

Couple of crackers in the commentary box in the last half hour. Boycott with his " Cook's caught that one in 'is gooleys... " and Vic Marks with his " Shami has leathered that one for 6 "
