You lost the plot after saying the Dark Knight was pretty shit. All credibility as a serious film reviewer was gone then I am afraid.

Oh dear, every time I post a film yuo like and I don't or vice versa you pull that one out. I thought the 2nd Batman film was a bit shit and started to go down the Joel Schumaker route slightly. If you cant accept other people's opinions or tastes then why do you even bother posting about films or entertainment which is exclusively a matter of taste and opinion.

He has a good leading man role in The departed, and the Aviator...

Not seen the Aviator but thought he was quite weak in The Departed which is a shame as that is an otherwise good film.

Hither (sometimes Thither)
He was superb in that. in my opinio the guy cannot pull off (ooh err) a leading man role.

I'm with you on that Nibble. He's not a bad actor, don't get me wrong, but his shoulders are unbroad and his chin unsquare and the look in his eyes always one of trying to work out where he'd left his electric landrover keys. He carries no menace or unmanageable physical or psychological bulk, necessities for a bigscreen frontman.

Agreed.

He's like a poor mans Matt Damon.

Though Matt would never do a tripe film like Titanic.

US, why have you spat your dummy out because someone gave a fair review of a film he has seen and you HAVE NOT? It seems a strange thing to do.

On the IMDB ratings, 9.3, Inception's current rating would make it the best film ever made (vs IMDBs top 250 no.1 Shawshank Redemption with a rating of 9.1). With only 5,123 votes this figure is currently unreliable. The film has been out for ONE day. So it's IMDB rating has yet to be moderated by non fans of the director and cast.

This is why critics opinions are more valid than the average punter, at this time anyway.

Finally to back up what Meades Ball said, why do you care what someone elses opinion is anyway? Go and see the film, and enjoy it, or not. What you don't need to do, is care what someone else thinks of the film as it is entirely irrelevant.

Nail on head. US is looking a bit silly.

Superman and Iron Man are worse both in comic and film. And let's not talk about The Flash's lightning-fast pointlessness.

Yeah but at least Superman and the Flash have super powers.

People shouldn't comment on Super Hero movies if they won't enter the debate "Who would win in a fight out of...".

And I'm not an Iron man fan, Colossus would kick his arse.

I enjoy film threads and US always makes me chuckle. At least he knows wht he likes. I sometimes come away from films and genuinely don't know wether I liked it or not. Odd.

On the whole I'm hard to impress with films, I leave a lot of "critically acclaimed" films underwhelmed.

So I went and saw Inglorious Basterds and I came out of the theatre thinking f*** me that Christoph Waltz performance was one of the best i've ever seen.

I've never thought that about a Di Caprio role.

US I dont actually think you get what jcd is saying here and tbh you are making a bit of a fool of yourself

His original review was prefectly sensible and reasonable, yet all you have done nothing but abuse his opinion on a film you have not even seen yet!

Ah well. Shit happens.

But the truth is that critics are by definition critical. That's their job.
Frank Black

Critics are like eunuchs in a harem; they know how it's done, they've seen it done every day, but they're unable to do it themselves.
Brendan Behan

I say to consumers: instead of relying totally on critics, drink what you like and like what you drink.

Some of the funniest films my friends and I have seen have been absolutely canned by "critics".

This proves to me that those who label themselves as critics are humourless, pompous, condescending twats.

Which is why I'd never pay any attention to what their out of touch with the public views express.

here hare here
Anyone seen or planning to see this film. It is mean't to be mustard. With the 2nd greatest director working at the moment and a fine young actor it has the makings of a masterpiece. I am really looking forward to this one.

i think everyone's missing the point here which is exactly who does US think is the greatest director working at the moment?
