I thought Baldock worked so hard today. Putting loads of pressure on their centre halves.

Would echo the comments for sidwell and bong top

Undoubtedly. Sam Baldock is exhibit C here.

The West Stand rose as one to applaud him off. And rightly so.

Bong / Both CBs / Sidwell / Skalak / Stephens / Murray all excellent today. Oh and Bruno did well defensively as always. Bong & Skalak actually linked up better than Bruno & Knocky for the first time ever at home...

Thought Skalak was absolutely brilliant today and worked his socks off. As you say, 3 assists plus some great deliveries, terrific movement off the ball and oozing confidence. At his very best in an Albion shirt and a pleasure to watch.

That was a truly special Albion performance and a privilege to witness. Okay, Norwich weren't at their best but we demolished them and exerted total control in all disciplines. I love it when we don't sit back and go at teams and today proved what we're capable of dishing out to anyone in this division when we're firing on all cylinders. We were brimming with confidence and at times it was hard to believe that we were playing against Premiership quality opposition. Our work ethic didn't waver and we chased everything for 90+ minutes.

We are in a great place now, with players competing for places and strength in depth. Early days yet, but with last season's heartache still fresh in CH's and the team's mind I am sure they will learn from that and be more tactically astute this season. 10 clean sheets in 15 starts is a quite remarkable statistic at this level.

Endorsing Bozza's earlier comments these are truly great times to be a Seagulls fan. Wonderful stuff. Having just got back to Warwickshire after a long drive home from Sussex my lad and I can hardly speak having cheered and sung our lungs out at the Amex today! There can't have been too many passengers on the M40 this evening belting out GOSBTS!

Attached is a pic of a packed North Stand at kick off. Well done to all in there for the tremendous noise you made and for inspiring the WSL North to make a lot more noise than usual!

Happy days, UTA ! :albion2:

O contrare... was playing Band Royal Marines GOSBTS in car approaching Beaconsfield just now! Beamed all the way home, no need to put the fog lamps on although 'twas very thick in places. Brilliant brilliant day, well worth the 165 miles round trip!

The cross from Skalak for Murray's header was WORLD CLASS. It had to be literally inch perfect and it was.

We are lucky to have numerous big and obvious heroes. We all know who they are.

But we have less obvious ones. Thought turns to Messrs Bong and Sidwell to kick this one off. Working hard at a high, yet less than obvious level.

What a team we have.

Great days to be an Albion fan.

Bong got an incredible round of applause up in WSU for his flawless pass to Skalak which lead to the second goal. Just a brilliant piece of football.

Sidwell similarly had an immense game.

The Dinlow and his son behind me at the back of the north stand did nothing but slag Bong off the whole game, clueless **** that he is.
I thought Bong was immense again and back to his best.

Chris Hughton.

We should have rubbed their noses in it yesterday about the manager they binned and the manager that out foxed them as he changed our tactics from defensive , predictable and boring, to opening a can of whoopass!

Take a bow Chris :bowdown::bowdown:

Said nobody, ever.
Harsh - he obviously didn't score enough last season, but I don't remember anyone being as rabidly anti-Baldock as you.

Funnily enough, he didn't impress me that much in the first half yesterday but I thought he had a great second half.

I think the only member of the starting 11 who hasn't been mentioned is Stockdale, who didn't, as usual, do much wrong.

But agree with ALL the bigging up of EVERYONE else.

And echo Mellotron's comment about Skalak's cross for the second goal. Magnificent.

Never easy for a keeper to keep their concentration when they've got so little to do. Stockers' distribution was laser-guided yesterday, and he dealt comfortably with the few mediocre efforts Norwich could muster. I'm sure his heart went out to his opposite number :lolol:

To beat a main promotion rival like we did yesterday makes them all heroes. Normally we would have suffered stage fright

Also feel Duff needs a mention on this thread, had an amazing game. Stonewall in defence and getting confident enough venture forward more often. Last year we had the best midfield, this year the best defensive. A great platform for the rest of the team.
The Norwich attack got Dufferised

I post this because, as Anthony Knockaert left the field to plaudits, so did Steve Sidwell. The last two to do so.

Chants rang out for the little magician but, in my mind at least, the other put in a bigger performance today.

I made the same observation at the time and wanted to sing out Stevie Sidwell but without his ginger boots I could not instantly recall a song so just clapped, which made me think do we even have songs for all the players?

Anyone who criticised any of our players yesterday was an idiot. They were all very good and Bong was among the top two or three performers yesterday. So great to see him back to his best and what a ball for Skalak for the second goal.
