To be honest I nearly didn’t go. Streaming cold, hacking cough, dodgy left ankle so I felt shit to begin with. But I went and suffered football’s equivalent of self flagellation. Anyway, after all that I suppose I’m better now thanks. The loved one is still here and fine.
Good to hear and i hope you recover from your illness

In the grand scheme of things it's just an away defeat. It was a West Ham supporting mate who said that. I'd forgotten about it until I opened this thread.

Just had my Watford mate call me and start laughing. He said I’d thought I’d give it a few days and then remind you all over again. Twat 🤣
He did say it wasn’t as bad as your rivals getting pumped 9 at Liverpool
Just ask him where are Watford in the league nowadays and yes twat (y)

We got pasted by a very good side. It happens. Nowhere near as low as Walsall 2008. And that, in turn, is nowhere near as painful as watching your child's team getting trounced 12-0 in junior football. That's personal.

My daughters team lost 16-0 last year. At least that's when everyone stopped counting.

To be honest it got quite funny in the end. When you get in to coaching you have dreams of being the next Pep. Future generations namechecking you in interviews as their inspiration. Oh captain my captain!

Not pleading with your players to stop doing cartwheels during a counter attack.

It was nowhere near the Millwall game at home. I had been confident we’d pull away from the relegation zone but that Millwall game came as a warning klaxon that we could very well drop to L1 again in our shiny new stadium - felt like a physical punch in the guts. Saturday was just an aberration.

It will be interesting to see how much of a reaction we get.

Full throttle for 20 minutes and then slip back to slow build up and intricate passing, will just be a normal game.
Going to need to see at least 60 minutes of full blooded intensity.

I'm well over it now.
However, this story about the pub giving free pints every time Notts (yes I know but it pisses them off) scored is winding me up, keeping it in the news far longer then it would be otherwise.

We let 7 goals in 1 match. Watford have 7 managers in 1 season!

Thanks god someone finally started a thread about our loss on Saturday. The silence on NSC about that match has been really strange.

Having had the misfortune to be at the City Ground last Saturday I’m still trying to come to terms with why and how everything could go so disastrously wrong. Okay, there have rumblings of discontent in previous games about our inability to shut out games when we’re winning or being unable to overcome teams with ten men behind the ball. When that happened there would be a load of post match chuntering of ifs and maybes and move onto the next game.

So, last Saturday? Every man and his dog has pointed the finger at Hurzeler for his team selection and tactics. Most agree that we’d lost before kickoff. But this defeat was cataclysmic, recent drubbings being Villa (6-1) last season and Everton (5-1) the season before that. But then we had madcap Roberto in charge. He knew how to fire the team up. The perfect example being Arsenal away, less than a week after the Everton game. Arsenal, who were challenging for the League absolutely outplayed by our boys who won 3-0.

Can Hurzeler inject the same reaction for when we play Chelsea in the Cup? I sincerely hope he can. He has lost an awful lot of credit in the eyes of many fans after the Forest match, many want him gone. The question now is how has this affected team morale, are we going to get an Arsenal-like response or a ‘dead man walking’ Hyypia reaction to the infamous Millwall game? I will find out when I go on Saturday as I must be a glutton for punishment - again! Fear the worst, hope for the best - your typical football fan!
Get a grip. It happens. Yes, it was certainly a shock. I was at the City Ground too. I drove home feeling very fed up -- like everyone else, I'm sure. But that was then, this is now. I've got my ticket for Chelsea on Saturday and am looking forward to the team making amends.

Honestly, get over it (meant non-aggressively). It was bad but, hey, that's football and that's life. There are worse things going on in the world than this. It's really NOT "cataclysmic", believe me!

For Gawd’s sake the whole of my post was FOOTBALL related and on a football forum. In terms of defeat though that was a really bad one and therefore lingers in the system a bit longer than a straight forward loss of, say, 1-0 or 2-1. We are all Brighton fans at heart so, like you, I’m looking forward to Saturday and a night of redemption and passion - and a win!
