when you get to my age you find it difficult to trust anyone
and I will say it again I don't trust anyone (other than my family)
the goings on at the club are you must admit rather Machiavellian at the least

Tony Bloom's Q&A last week demonstrated, yet again, to me that he is anything BUT Machiavellian - he was as open & honest, and PASSIONATE about the club and the future as I have ever experienced from a person in his position. But then again, I tend to look for and believe the best in people - so perhaps it is in the eye of the beholder.

Nail and Head, Titanic. Fortunately, 999 out of 1,000 Brighton fans he actually meets just go a bit gooey eyed and thank him for what he is doing...

I suppose If I met the guy things might be a lot different
eye contact and hand shakes make all the difference
take my local MP Stephen Loyd not my cup of tea until I met him and spoke to him and gave him a few hard questions
I am not saying I trust him wholeheartedly but I would consider voting for him

One thing is for certain, in order to make ends meet, ticket prices must go UP.

I remember when 15k was our break even.

Does seem strange.

Surely no championship club or any proffesional Lower club makes a profit ?

The 15k break even figure was based on the stadium only costing £54M to complete , with the increase to the original planned capacity and improving the specifications the costs must be nearer to double that now the work has been done.

another certainty,if they do go up that's the end of our season tickets at the amex???
I've done a full 180 on this attitude, esp when the toys are properly coming out of prams.

I said the same thing a few weeks ago, along the lines of 'and fook knows how I'm going to tell jnr Stat, he'll be heart broken'.
Mainly as a 'joke' but certainly based on fact.

Then the penny dropped.
Prices will go up, we ALL know that, and have known that, since time began.
If we reach the Premier League it will be a hefty increase.
My giving up our tickets will mean nothing in the short to medium term, as others will snap them up.
The clubs not a charity and business is business.

So I opened a new building society account specifically for our S/T's, into which I also pay a nominal amount of extra cash direct from my wages. Fingers crossed I will be able to cover the price rise, as and when it happens, in 6 months time.

It ain't rocket science and it sure beats moaning about being 'priced out of the game'.

Burnley actually made a large operating loss (4.4m) even allowing for the fact that were also receiving parachute payments. In addition to that they also had to pay out £1m in interest payments. Profits on player sales of £8m were the only reason they made an accounting profit - they had a large structural loss.

Birmingham - ditto. £21.7m profit on player sales, otherwise they had a £5m loss.

Peterborough also made a profit in that year, although that was again down to player sales - they pretty much run just below break-even.

Leeds and Barnsley also broke even, though both had to sell players to achieve that.

Is anyone seeing a recurring theme here?

Only Blackpool actually made an operating profit, and as El Presidente points out they were receiving parachute payments, their wage bill was too high to make them a viable Championship without it. Nevertheless, they seemed to be dealing with their relegation correctly.

Out of interest, do you pay by direct debit?

Yep, through the year.

As said my season tickets now have their very own account, which I now top up over and above what the club take out.
Not a enough for me to miss, but hopefully enough to make a difference come the day of reckoning.

I'm not disputing your figures, I nicked mine from the Deloitte Annual Review of Football Finance, a great read from all good bookshops, if a tad overpriced.

I didn't include Posh because I was looking at 2011/12 accounts, when they were in L1.

I imagine Vicente, Bridge and Hammond plus a certain former manager were all on a decent Prem /Top Championship level salary in the last financial year plus whatever sign on fees or sweetners were in their contracts? OK most of Wayne Bridge's salary was paid by Man C but I bet the remainder plus any fees still added up.

Bridge........£10,000
Vicente......£21,000
Hammond...£7,400
Poyet........£28,500

Total.........£67,000 approx.
( £3.5m )

Vicente on over £1 mill a year ??
That must of worked out around 100 k a match last season !
No wonder TB's cutting back.

If we lost £8m last year I cannot see how we are projected to lose £8m this year. We have increased income this year by having larger crowds due to increased capacity. Also new shirt sponsors which must have increased income. New caterers which boosted income. Perimeter advertising which increases income. Paul Barbers reduction in costs (£2m a year according to TB ). I believe the cost of the perimeter adverting was in last years accounts ( a one off ). If that is the case we must be losing less than £8m unless we have increased costs in other areas substantially

the savings made by redundancies wont be seen until next years accounts are submitted - generally making people redundant is as expensive as keeping them employed in terms of severance packages etc. You wont see or feel the savings for a year.
